Post by: grizzlyadams on February 28, 2012, 03:10:15 PM
;D  there were two out in my back pasture this morning! supposed to snow again tomorrow but we are well on the way to my favorite hunting season! my newest condors aren't done yet but i can substitute the 25 careers in their place!once the new birds are finished i probably will not use powder burners at all anymore. in past years i have used air and powder alternately :D this is going to be a good season, i can feel it.

Wow.. yep snowing right now in Southern NY/Hudson valley.  I rarely see a G-hog before April or late March around here.

Randy, you got a lot of G-hog because you have been observing them for a couple of years now.  In the meantime they are multiplying.  Cool pic of the G-hog moving around looking for a mate.  You can tell he 's been hibernating by how thin he/she is.  But their first order of business when they come out of hibernation is to find a mate.  This is why you see them out when the ground or grass is still frozen.  They are not out to feed, but to mate.
