Title: Summits turn this time
Post by: Furseeker on September 17, 2010, 11:33:03 PM
After getting all my chores done I was able to use the rest of my day off to get back to the dairy with the Summit in hand this time. I set up near an old blown down dead tree where the birds like to roost while the check out the corn pile to make sure it’s safe before they go in. As luck would have it today they didn’t feel like roosting, instead they just started diving in to the feed piles 100 yards away. I was bound and determined to wait until they started coming to me, but after one bird and more than an hour of watching them go to the feed piles I decided to go to them. So I loaded up and moved the up the field and took up position in my lawn placed about 40 yards away form where most of them were landing. A few minutes later I knew the move was going to pay off. The birds started coming in again and I managed to collect a few. The Summit was up to task, with most of the birds taken from 35 to 40 yards. But it did connect on 2 longer shots, one was from an even 60 yards and the other was taken from 52 yards, both ranges were confirmed with the range finder. I absolutely love the gold trigger on the Summit and will order one for the Big Cat before the weekend is over.

Thanks guys, I really enjoy shooting the Summit, my wife refers to it as her rifle, because he loves to shoot that thing on camping trips. It's extremely smooth for a gun that's never been opened up before and I can't believe how easy it is to cock for the power it puts out. I've ofter considered trying to find one of the those is .22 caliber, but can't seem to find one locally.

Outstanding hunt. You're killin me with all these pictures of those delicious looking pigeons :)  Harry and I have to figure out a way to get a couple of breeding pairs of those tasty morsels to New York  :)

I really look forward to your hunts and pics.  Keep up the good work  :)
