Title: Mac1 airgun...anyone else not able to get on their site?
Post by: Mark@ on February 11, 2012, 12:15:03 AM
I've been trying for almost a week and can't seem to get on their site.  It just keeps timing out.  Anyone else?

I called them on 2/9 and they said site was down.He told me all of the stuff was old anyway and I asked if someone was working on it and when it would be up.He said yes and he didn't know when.

I've read posts before where there were problems with his site.  Good to know they are getting it fixed.

Andy:  Ernest T., why do you talk through your nose?

Ernest T.:  That's so's I can talk whilst I eat.

Thanks.  Even when it was functional, the blue text, on that background, was hard on the eyes.  Glad their changing.

I appreciate the interest in Mac1 Products.
To update those that have been trying to hunt me down. I have decided to camp out on my bench until the backlog is handled. Posts will be few and far between for the next few months as I get not only the site sorted but the workload turned from backlog to back out.
I'm just completing the last of the Steroids and will get the Williams sites shortly and be able to get all the guns delivered that have been waiting for Steroid conversion.
Just that group of 60 guns was enough to bury me but there is lots more in the works.
I know folks are frustrated with my lack of responce on emails but I have to do the work or I'm dead so that is where I am. A long time ago I decided my waking hours would involve doing rather than talking or typing and that is the theme of 2012. My Carpals are screaming as they always do at the end of the Steroid Sessions. This one lasted for weeks and I'm so glad to be nearing the end of that because it was an incredible amount of catch up.
The site is down and I'd like to remind people that the picks can be found by looking for the Cache option as that will give you the last glimpse of the site when it was last up.
The new site is not in the build process yet but it will be soon. I will first get the service backlog caught up as my customers have been more than patient.
It is important for me to get a handle on the workload so I can be more responsive in the future.
I clearly let things get out of control in the last few years and it is time to reel that situation in.
There are a lot of folks I could not take care of during that time and I regret that and apoligize for any inconveinence.
My effort to compete in the Worlds BR event took me down a path I should not have taken but once I started I could not resist doing my best.
It was totally selfish and inconsiderate to throw caution to the wind and invest all the hours shooting rather than wrenching. What it got me was total chaos in the Mac1 shop and Me caring less about the service side than I ever have in my life. I love shooting and I love wrenching but shooting took precedent for over 6 months and I was obsessed with what I could acomplish if I worked hard.
I got third in the world. Bronze in a World Championship with a Gold Medal for the participation in the Team A USA 3 man top dog squad.
The BR SS barrel was first and third with all three guys on the Gold A team using the American made taper lapped Stainless Steel 2 groove. Benchmark had accomplished in their first try to make a Barrel that could get it done.
Larry Durham had designed a winning barrel and Benchmark made it happen. Pushing the envelope is what I will always do and I appreciate all the help I can get to make American Made mean something when it comes to Airguns.
It is more important to execute rather than make excuses.
I probably will never get another chance to compete in a Worlds BR Championship at the highest level. I can say I gave it my best. I came up a little short but that is how things went. No regrets!
I'm sorry for the chaos. I cannot ask for each persons forgiveness individually but I do apoligize for the collateral damage that occurred. It won't happen again.

Tim, Congratulations on your participation in the benchrest competition. Selfish?  I personally don't hold it against anyone who decides to "seize the day" when such an opportunity presents itself.  Maybe it was the right decision and maybe it wasn't,  but if you didn't go then maybe for the rest of your life you're thinking "Man I think I would have had a shot IF I had gone, but I'll never know."  Just my opinion.  BTW, when my finances allow it I will be contacting you about an American-made Steroid 392.

Tim,

As a 4 time North American Champion, sailing the boat (built in 1966) in my avatar, I can
totally understand the "obsession.." that takes over when a rare opportunity presents itself.

I have been blessed to share my success with all three of my children being the crew at
least once for these championships. ( 2 person boat)

As you did, 'Sieze the Day' !   My wife gave me the 'gif't to persue my passion, without complaint,
even when I knew in my heart, I was pushing it.  34 yrs married, and this journey started before we met.
Yes, I so know how lucky I am.
I hope the airgun community gives you the same consideration.  I am sure many do.

Very early in my persuit, I asked her to let me follow my dreams.  I did not want to be one of
those beer swilling guys at the end of the bar saying ..."if I'd only..... I cud a been...."

You can hold your head high and honestly say,  " I did my best!" and have NO regrets.

Thank-you for sharing about  your journey and success.
Best Regards and Hearty Congratulations....

Would love to share a pitcher and swap stories.....someday.

Tim
I understand where you are coming from. I went back into the military after a 25 year break in service, just to deploy and finish some unfinished business. Very hard on my family but I had their support 100 percent. I had left the green machine on a sour note and it haunted me everyday. I had to go back when I got the chance. I would not have changed a thing. Well, I wish I had gone back in earlier. I hope you don't regret giving the shooting your effort. You did outstanding in my humble opinion. I am hopeful that most of your customers will be as  understanding as my friends an family were. My hats off to you..
