Title: Couple more finds......
Post by: Smackey54 on February 06, 2012, 03:41:05 PM
Found over the weekend. Benjamin 312. It has been stripped to the brass and the stock is a little rough. (The white paint Gremlin got this one!)

Also got a 1972 Sheridan Blue Streak....with excellent metal....and...the white paint Gremlin struck this gun too!

Hehe- my old Benjamin has a spotty appearance to the barrel. :D Most likely uneven corrosion. :)

You can probably see it in this pic:

But your stock appears to be in excellent shape! I wish mine was like that. The one I got has been rode hard and put away wet.....more than once!

Haha! :D
Most of the old airguns I've found in this area are in pretty darn good shape for their age. I have a theory about that: In Texas, guns are a big deal, esp PB's. I think alot of people bought airguns for the novelty and to teach young kids the basics of shooting, but they graduated them on to .22's pretty quick, and the air rifles went into the closet, never to be seen again.

I agree with lizzie and the present shape of older guns.  My Grandmother was the initiator of having the old Diana 35 (1954) in the first place (she hated crows in her cherry tree!).  We all graduated, to the .22 Rim-fire, up to some highly powered WW2 vintage arms (I have in the meantime gotten rid of them).  The Air Guns are to me more fun.  I do not need to shoot something more than 1000 yds. away.

The old Air Guns are just cool, IMHO.  New ones are too.  I like 'em.

Congrats upon your new find.  Fix it up and be proud!
