Title: Daisy 880
Post by: beemangh950 on February 05, 2012, 10:24:46 PM
I have an older Daisy 880 Ted Williams version This was the first air gun my parents bought me back in the seventy's I brought this air gun to a shop and paid 70.00$ to have new seals put in it. But it just isn't nowhere as powerful as it use to. I just sent it to New York to have a used but decent condition barrel and shroud put on it. Its even worse now, It use to have a nice crack of air out of it now it's more of a pssst sound. The pump handle doesn't stay closed when you shoot it. I really wanted to get this gun refurbished to pass on to my son. The guy from New York said it seemed fine but it's not I shot this gun almost every day growing up. I also have another older 880 that's much stronger. There has to be someone that would know this gun inside and out that can get it back to the way it use to be. Also when I got it back some air was leaking from the trigger valve when you pump it. I was really disapointed when I got it back.

theres three seals in the gun.im assuming since its an older model the receiver is metal? The chamber valve seat and pump, the o ring seal group and the pump head assembly.if correct size oring wsnt used it will slowly leak. You may also want to check the pin that sits in the vavle on the trigger as this can stick slightly open and cause air loss.If you send me youre E-mail ill shoot ya a diagram of what most likely needs replaced again.

From what I've seen, the parts for the early 880's are no longer available.  Someone bought up the existing stock a few years ago and he's the only known source, although it was suggested he might be out.  I would be willing to bet your repair guy did not have what he needed and maybe tried to wing it.  I won't ask who he is but there is no way that gun should have come back as a weak shooter.

Give this guy a try Dennis baker 937-935-4887 email baker19711@yahoo.com. He sells alot of guns on gun brokers an runs a repair shop. I got one of his rebuilt 880 An it does 690 fps. Also his prices are reasonable. If you go to gun broker an search his name you will see all the guns he does.

690 sounds more like it. The guy from New York said my chronied at 400 and he said that was fine. Also the pump handle won't close all the way for some reason since I got it back. I will give the guy you suggested a call. Thanks all
