I've seen a couple of threads here mentioning what Umarex charges for replacement parts. It seems fairly obvious that they don't want to be in the parts supply business. There have been instances where it would be better to buy a used gun and cannibalize it. If you need a part for something, Diana or whatever, post a want here and on the other classifieds first. Might be someone has it taking up space on their workbench.

This has been my experience too, unfortunately. I contacted Umarex about a special order item from the Diana site, since they are the sole importer of Diana, and Umarex told me to to contact Diana directly who told me to contact Umarex. Kind of disappointing.

You would think Daina would find another rep. for their products. The main spring on my 4mo. old 34 broke so I called and talked to Mike. I asked if they would send me a replacement and was told no, policy. And was told I would have to pay shipping both ways to have it looked at. If it was found that the spring was not defective I would have to pay for repairs. He sent me a prepay for shipping 1 way and said if I used it and it was found not defective I would have to pay for the repair, bench charge and shipping both ways. >:( Needless to say I'm not impressed so I sent this information to Daina in Germany. I have no problem with Daina products just their representative here. I asked Daina if there was anything they could do to help me with this problem? Waiting for an answer. The last time I emailed them I never got an answer.

Look for parts at TW Chambers! or J&G airguns! :P

try this one write Diana about how good the UMAREX service is for the brands reputation

For springs go with Air Rifle Headquarters, hands down the BEST in the business. You can also get kits from Vortek. Chambers has parts but they are in the UK which makes them expensive for stateside repairs.
How the heck can a broken spring be anything other than warranty? Broken springs are par for the course and, if a company chooses to offer a lifetime warranty, that's their hard luck. (Do realize that on many of these guns you cannot open them up without voiding the warranty.)
Here's my take on Umarex: If you have noticed their pricing on new, non-refurbished guns, you will see that they are maybe 125% of the going rate. Umarex is the main distributor here in the USA and, as such, doesn't want to be in competition with the retailers it supplies. My guess is they price themselves out of the market to prevent this. Of course, if you want to pay over $700 for a Diana rifle, they will be more than happy to oblige you.
From what I have seen over the years, Diana has not had good customer service since they moved out of New Jersey. I talked with a technician there about a HyScore-branded Diana 75 and he not only was familiar with 75's but also my particular model. Their charge for a complete rebuild was about two-thirds what the next authorized service center wanted and no ham-fisted workmanship, either. These guys were pros all the way. Now I think it's a case of on the job training. I don't want to upset anyone here who has used a service center for repair work but, were it I, I would chalk up the warranty (unless it was something catastropic) and have a recognized tuner do the work with after market parts. The one thing about Umarex is they simply return the gun to stock condition.

I believe the springs are only covered for one year under the warranty

Hey Rickey, I don't want to seem "picky" but , when you emailed DIANA how did you spell their name. I just happened to notice the way you've spelled it in your post here is not correct? Dont hang me for this , just trying to help . Regards Supaflee

just read the warrenty card for the new 34 i git today . it says parts that can wear out such as seals and mainsprings are covered for 18 months from registeration date and it isnt covered if the gun is opened or damaged by improper use or modification sounds like if you dont use it they MIGHT FIX IT ... but thats what my warrenty card says and you must provide the sales reciept also even if you register it as they ask for sales place as well as the date lots of red tape to me
-

Red tape designed to create reasons to not warranty as many repairs as possible...I don't have alot of faith in the warranty thru the importer at all....hidden charges at every turn...if you say it does not group well $35 range charge, you pay shipping both ways etc etc sorta a non warranty on a $219 retail rifle
-
all the warrenty is .is alegal coverup that crooked lawyers drew up to cover consumer protection laws written to protect us. written by lawyers who left loopholes for later ways to avoid the legal duties
-
And who hired those lawyers? The same people who offer the warranty. Look at it this way. You shoot the gun, you break the spring and then, once the gun has worn in, time for a really good spring. And at half the cost. Add a new seal and lubes while you're at it and you're way ahead of the game.
-
I agree with you Red just make sure the barrel shoots well and pray the scope rail stays put and go for it. Even if you did open it I'll bet they would cover a failed scope rail IF you are the original purchaser and HAVE your reciept!!!!!
-
tw carries many diana parts and has all the diagrams also.last time i orderd from them shipping was 12$ which i didnt think to bad for as far away as they are.got it in a decent time frame also.
-
Is "tw" Chambers? I need an obscure spring for a Milbro. Hard to pay $12 for a $1 part but it might be worth it.
Tom, you still miffed about that scope rail, aren't you? ;) I will say, your tale didn't do much for building confidence in their repair facility.
BTW, my friends, this "Show me the receipt" business is a pretty poor policy. You buy a Ruger, Remington, Smith & Wesson, Thompson/Center (especially) or almost any other gun maker's product, even second hand, and it has a genuine warranty issue, they will almost universally fix it for next to nothing, if not free. I've seen guys send a gun in to Ruger or T/C and have it come back with a totally new barrel, cylinder, etc, not just a repair. There have even been cases of the maker rebluing the entire gun while they were at it. How you like that, M&G?
-
Likely that emails to Diana won't help much...Diana = Airgun brand/models, made by Mayer und Grammelspacher previously imported by RWS who also makes ammunition and AG pellets and was owned (maybe still is) by Dynamit-Nobel of munitions/dynamite fame. It get's more confusing, RWS U.S. was importer of Diana and most Diana guns had RWS etchings or imprints at least in U.S. UMAREX = importer and owner of makers such as Walther and their own brands, many made in Turkey, Italy and elsewhere. Some Walthers had Umarex markings some did not, likely most current production does. Does Umarex own or control M&G (Diana) not sure but, I'm thinking they may.
Anyway, Umarex U.S. considers itself the more than worthy competitor to Beeman and Crosman in the U.S. and import of Diana guns thru them will likely not change unless some major deal goes down (ie totally un-related to customer service).

Dynamit-Nobel of munitions/dynamite fame.
Don't forget the Peace Prize of the same name (Nobel)

Of course emails to Diana (M&G) will help. They need to know how their US distributor is doing. While we here in the US are only a very small part of the entire Diana market, we still have a voice.
