Title: TF99 Bags An Early Nutter
Post by: Fwawa20 on January 31, 2012, 12:25:53 PM
Upon the packing up of my gun this morning after the unsuccesful second night pesting for bandits. I heard a slight bark from a nutter and then i spot him sitting on the branch of an oak about 40ft up about 15yds away from the driveway. I excitedly rushed and placed a Gamo Rocket into the chamber(First tin my hand brought out in my bag). Then lined the 4x16x50 leapers right on the eyeball then let one fly...missed. So i knew what the problem was and went back into the bag and grabbed cphp and loaded it. Took several minutes to locate the squirrel bc she jumped to another tree. When i finally located her she presented a shot where she was clinging to side of the tree lying flat. So i put the cross hairs on the top of the skull and fired. She dropped immediately and did a roll over expired no death dance ;) Jus the way i like it!

Nice job on the second shot. The first pellet must have gone low since the CPHP's are lighter than the Rockets (at least I think they are). That nutter will be real tasty. :)

Thanks guys... I ve had a couple kills with the rockets and they hit hard but the gun was zeroed with the cphp's so it was a tad off...

the rockets being heavier, would have a higher point of impact

Great shooting with the TF 99!  I was out shooting my TF 87 yesterday trying to figure out which pellet it likes the best.  So far it is the CPUM.  I shot a lot of squirrels with my old TF 99 .22.

Thanks I was actually looking for an 87 in .22 or a jet but I couldn't find one anywhere. I know yours was tuned and shoots 30Fpe that's sound real nice to me.

I have some pellets coming today I hope. I'll send you some groups from the Jet. There was no point sending you groups with lighter pellets, it scatters them like a shotgun.  I'm going to put my .177 TF 87 in the classifieds today I hope. I'm just not as in love with the .177 magnums as I am the .22 magnums.  The thing is I have such nice .177 guns now that the TF 87 is one I never reach for so someone may as well get some use out of it.  Right now I have a RWS 36C, a Howie stocked, Shadow tuned, RWS 320, and my Whisper. All of those shoot so accurately that even if they aren't as powerful as the TF 87, they more than make up for it in accuracy, weight and ease of shooting.  The TF 87's $$ are going into the "Disco" fund. :D
