Title: D48 wZRT kit DONE! early results
Post by: barcabarca on January 27, 2012, 04:34:25 PM
thanks to EVERYBODY, who helped here, this forum is a great place!

OK. Got it all back together, it turns out I had a part of the trigger assembly in backwards.  I finally got it all back together and then put 25 cphp through just to get the lubes moving around correctly and test the firing cycle..

Ok: initial results:

BEFORE:
w JSB 18.13gr
726.56 fps avg
21.26 FPE

AFTER: D48 REFURB W- ZRT KIT:
Results- JSB 18.13gr pellets:
749.9, 754.1, 755.7, 756.5, 757.0, 761.7, 756.6, 753.9, 757.2, 752.9

= 755.5 fps with a standard deviation of 3.13 fps!
That's 22.98 FPE with JSB 18.13gr pellets
about 9% better FPE

Results 2- JSB 15.9gr pellets
773.9, 792.6, 764.3, 786.5, 796.1, 779.0, 787.9, 794.7, 796.1, 797.8
=786.89fps avg, a standard deviation of 11 fps.
That is 21.86 FPE with JSB 15.9gr pellets

These are all one shot tests just so I could get an idea of what it might be for these lighter weight pellets...
Superdomes= 851.3 fps= 23.3 FPE
CPHP tin=846.7 fps= 23 FPE
RWS Super HP=843.2 fps=22.58 FPE

The shot cycle is a jolt, but a very linear feel and no torqueing feel at all. Cocking seems quieter.  It's definitely a small bit more energetic than before.  I will see if this effects my accuracy...

So if I can get same or better accuracy results at 24, 50 and 100 yards the ZRT kit will be able to provide a zombie squirrel capable air rifle. 8)

Good to hear you got it all sorted out and running again. Man that thing was a beast before and after the tune godd job. Hopefully it dosnt goof the accuracy cause by the numbers that thing sure looks zombie proof to me! Great job and glad its working out.

Your chrony numbers look pretty promising for that ZRT kit.  Be sure to let us know how the accuracy is with the 48 once you've gotten a chance to try it out!

 TOM,

Hey I had reversed part #105. according to the instructions that I was reading, it said that it needed to have the flat part facing the rear of the assembly, but actually it was the other way around... I looked carefully at the indentations in the metal and then thought about the directions and how they could just be a matter of perspective...then it hit me...Ohhhhh, I get it.

;D  Once I got that in, it was easier.  I put it together a total of 11 times in 24 hours.... crazy huh.   I zeroed it at 25 yards today, but I ran out of JSB 18.13 pellets!  I will get some more tomorrow hopefully and begin the tests for accuracy...

Now I'm going to see if I can locate a stainless steel or blued steel trigger guard.  that would be cool...
