Title: Lemak .25 Condor's first kill :)
Post by: only1harry on September 14, 2010, 03:43:43 PM
I have had a custom Condor .25 from Lemak (Lee) for a little over a year now.  I have been working out some issues with it but not as much as I should have.  This weekend I felt I had neglected this gun and my investment, and took it out of the closet to work on it.  I stopped the small leak that occured when filling past 2500psi and it was ready to shoot with new breach O-rings.  It loves the JSB 25.4gr.

This morning I took it out again to do some more target shooting at 35yds this time.  I had not taken more than 6 or 7 shots when my eye caught movement in the trees to my left.  Sure enough it was a Gray moving to my right slowly and just going through my property.  Most of them don't really stop when up on the trees, except for very short quick stops.  They just keep going right on through, unless they are on the ground foraging.

I had just adjusted the scope from 25yds to 35yds and was really close to the bullseye but not 100% there yet.  I decided to back off the elevation clicks where I had it before when shooting bullseyes at 25yds, and hoped the scope would go back to its old zero.  The nutter was now almost straight ahead and to my surprise came down to visit the wild cherry tree which is a lot shorter and about the same height as the 2nd floor window I was shooting from. I don't know why he went to that tree because there are no berries on it at this time of year.  The nutters ate everything on that tree back in June-July.  He looks like he just moved in and is exploring.  He paused at just over 25yds, maybe 26, and I had the hill as my backstop. I could see him between some leaves and he was almost facing away from me.  I quickly put the crosshairs on his head which was not completely broadside so I aimed further back to the ear.  I squeezed and heard the usual "crack" their skull makes when getting crushed.  He dropped 13-14ft to the ground and didn't move for a couple of secs.  Then he did a very small death dance without much hopping or jumping but more twitching, and it was over in <5 secs.  The JSB King had entered just behind the left ear and exited under the right ear.

This Condor has a nice walnut stock which does not do it justice in the pics because I did not have enough sunlight and the flashlight did not come on, because I probably had enough light..  It also has a polygonal LW barrel which are supposed to be better or more accurate but I don't know how true that is.  The shoulder pad which is also dressed in walnut, rotates to where you want it and where it suits you.  The pull of length was also increased at the same time which I like because I am >6'1 and big guns fit me better.  The gun also has a custom top-hat with a custom breach slide. and valve work shooting 31gr Kodiaks at well >1,000fps with only a medium-weight 78gr hammer.

So now finally all my guns have taken a critter.  I don't know why I waited so long to use them.  I have too many choices now :)  I will promote the Lemak Condor to bandit or country rat duty when the season starts :)

Thanks guys!  That is a 1 of a kind stock/grips on this Condor.  Lemak's stocks were all unique so I have a one of a kind gun that noone else has :)  He got creative with the forend too and filling the small gap on top of the frame with wood, and another piece in front of it.

And I made a mistake.  It's OAK, not walnut, but still pretty light.  This is what it looked like when I bought it, before I put a shroud on it.

Thanks Dave.  It felt good to shoot it and hold it again.  It had been too long.

It's the Cadillac of my Airguns (and most expensive gun I own, including powder burners).  I love its glossy stock and feel.  The Talon Tunes Condor is the Powerhouse though with 10fpe more :)

I had another big nutter in my sights with the Lemak Condor this morning but noticed something unusual.  It seemed fatter than usual and its belly was big.  Just as I had suspected (or predicted) earlier in the summer, they have mated again because of the warmer than usual weather.  I gave it a pass this time.  I 'd like the to reproduce a little to produce more "food" for me :)  The first few I took this season as of Sept. 1 were younger and small-avg. size.  Now I am seeing these big females come out of the woodwork, like the one I took a few days ago.  Maybe they are looking for their mates that have disappeared?  :D

Thanks guys.  Ed, I 'm thinking of making it semi-auto to resemble a Tommy gun a little more :)

Nice shooting Harry, and that's one beaut of a rifle! A Tommy Gun looks would be cool, but can ya make a pellet drum for it? :)

Harry, great shot at that nutter with your "Tommy Gun" look-alike.  Wow....a .25 pellet slamming into it`s victim spitted out by a Condor.....instant death!!!!

Thanks Pindog and Stanley.  The Condors ensure nothing gets away (wounded), and that they expire very very quickly.

Pindog - long time no see here! :)

Thank you kindly Ray :)

Oh no, not you too!  My wife does the "cha-ching" thing!  She keeps reminding me the $ I spent on this gun, when she wants to go on a shopping spree :)
