Hey all, Im 38 and recently got interested in air rifles. I have a daisy powerline from wal mart i shoot with the kids, same gun i had when i was a kid.
But it made me want soething more..
So, I did alot of searching, and ALOT of research. And I decided on a RWS34, reason being every review of just about every gun in the simular price range had a guy that said "just spend a little more for a RWS34 and do it right the first time" So I started calling around. I had 190.00 to spend, so no scope for now!
Anyway one of the shops I called were all out, BUT they did have the RWS350 Feurercraft (.177) in stock, and on sale for 190.00! wow, thats cheap.
So I went against my better judgement and bought it. And I am glad I did.
the magnums have some kick for sure, and are a little longer. When I first got it out of the box, I admit I was a little overwhelmed by the weight and size of this thing.
But after a few hours shooting I was perfectly happy with it. It has a learning curve I hear, and I feel im doing great with it so far.
I just ordered a scope and rings for it so looking forward to that arriving.
I guess the reason for this post is mainly to let people that are looking for a first gun know that it is ok to start with a magnum if thats what you want..just be prepared to be patient and learn the rifle.
probably the same with any other rifle, you have to learn it.. But I was told NOT to start with the RWS350, and it got me down a bit, but after spending some quality time with this thing.. I couldnt imagine being happier with any other!
I would still like to own a rws34 though! but 350 all the way!!!

That is an outrageously good deal. I am glad it's working out for you, and you'd have been crazy to pass it up. Any pics?

Welcome to the GTA. And congratulations on a fine rifle. Now you have to show us some pictures.

So how do the shot groups look??? Is it grouping good its a hand full for a first spring rifle. I hope you are using heavy pellets 10 plus grain.
What trigger group does it have? I am guessing its a T05 .....
-
yes its a t05 trigger, and so far all ive got through it are some benjamin 10.5g.. and its grouping at a half inch in the garage... lol I know I havent gotten it out yet, im shooting from 10 yards in the garage, so i cant really say if it groups well or not yet. Im going to take it out this weekend.
ill get some pick as well!

Welcome!!! Just spend so time with it as it seems you already have. Great price for a great gun. As mentioned, shoot the 10 + gr. pellets. Is a 12 land barrel or 8 ? I've got an extra 8 land .22 barrel for that gun. I converted the .22 to a .177 compack pro. Love those shorter barrels on these guns but the short barrels with the factory muzzle brake makes them even heavier. Some people say this guns don'y kick but I have to disagree. At least mine will. ENJOY!!!

I was trying to avoid the 8 versus 12 stuff LOL lets see how this one shoots without that issue.
22 cal sounds like the ticket in a 350 *_*. I just picked up the 54 in 22 I like it ALOT

Welcome to the GTA. Congratulations on your first springer. You sure got a great price on it. ;D You can't go wrong with the German quality of the Diana guns. I really looked hard at that same gun when I was looking for my first springer a year and a half ago. I went with the 34 since I didn't have a lot of space to shoot and thought a bit less power would be best. I really liked the feel of an adult airgun when I held it for the first time. Your accuracy sounds about like mine to start off. Its sure to improve with more shooting. Best of luck and keep us updated on how things go!

Man that is an insane deal! Congrats. I love my 350's. Once mastered they are nasty accurate and powerful.
-
yeah i had to pay $20 shipping though heh.. total was 218.00 shipped.
I couldnt be happier! love it, scope just shipped, along with the rings, and I already had ordered a utc mount with droop compensation.. hope all goes well.
I have never sighted a scope before!
I dont know what the 8 vs 12 stuff is yet, so im happy lol..
and yeah, i was shopping for a .22 but when he told me the price I figured ill take the .177 and just shoot some heavier pellets :)
-
You'll have to tell us where you got that deal. I have had a 350 for a few years now. Long enough now that mine probably cost what you paid for yours.
Yes they do have a kick and they also twist. Scared me at times.. I finally tuned it with a Vortek kit and seal. Slowed it down some, not much, but also removed the twist.
Funny story. I let a friend shoot it and they got their eye a little close to the scope. Yep, they almost got a black eye!!!

Congrats and you got a great deal on a fantastic rifle, i have the double-deuce 350 Proc Compact and its a joy to shoot and deadly accurate.
-
Welcome, RWS makes some fine guns. I started out with a 34. From there a 48 and now a 460. The fever is hard to shake.
-
Welcome!
You like it now, wait till you tune her and throw in a vortek kit. You will love it then.
Congrats on a killer deal. Try the JSB Heavies 10.3gr and crosman ultra mags 10.5, mine loves those.
Hope you ordered a scope that can handle the recoil of her, I went through a few.

SMokin' deal! The guy that sold you that gun...that cheap, is now on K.P. duty here on out. hehe. Good score and welcome to the GTA...cheers Bart

I got it at airguns of arizona..
I called looking for the 34, when he looked and saw he was all out he mentioned it.. called it the rws34's big brother..
I just looked and they still have another at that price listed..
I cant post links but its on thier site still, under RWS
third from the bottom.. only in .177 though..
And as far as a scope, I ordered the leapers that comes on the 350 mag striker combo, so should hold up.

The whole 12 vs 8 land barrel is not as big of a deal imo. 12 lands tend to be a bit more pellet picky but dont freak out 90% of shooting is the shooter. Relax have fun and sling heavy lead with that thing. 10 gr range. My 177 350 loves 10.2/10.3 gr jsb's. Hn and beeman 10.65 gr shoot well also but jsb is the best out of mine. When your ready to make it super smooth like mentioned above the vortek pg2 kit is awesome. What scope did you get? Id suggest leapers or if you got the extra jingle hawke makes some nice scopes. But they aint cheap. Leapers are rock solid and their warrenty is no hassle, if it breaks they replace it period. Its nice to have that type of service.
Ha you posted same time i did. That scope should last for a while. Aoa is good company.

Sorry!! I agee.

Scope so you have the Leapers 3-9x32AO comming? I have one from 2007 its awesome...last fall I had two ina row that died fast on a 34 Pro Compact. Second one broke the reticule in a handfull of shots. Leapers is local so I can drive over for swap outs....they would have let me keep trying them until one held up...but they offered an upgrade to save me the hassle and I went to newer model a 3-12x40AO. I will try the 3-9x32AO again I like it must have been a edge of tolerance batch. Please let us know how it holds up longterm.
I gave up on my 12 land .177 I drew two questionable barrels in a row....but you seem to be on the right track with yours the harder pellets seem to shoot better, so CP, H&N, Beeman, RWS R10s, Superdomes but thenRWS ones might be too light at 8. something grains etc ....JSBs seem to be too soft so that should be the last pellet tried as I do not think they will have much chance of success in that 350
-
AOA still has the 350 Feuerkraft in .117 for $198.00.T0-5 triggers and 12 groove barrels.Mine is very accurate with CP 10.5 pellets as well as JSB and H&N in similar weights.
-
I have a 350 also and its been a scope killer but i put good rings and a leupold 4x on it and no more problems so far. Those 350's sure have some recoil for a pellet rifle!
-
Vortek or JM the gun. Smooths out the gun but will still be a handful. A great improvement.
-
WOW! What a good deal on a solid gun.
We pay in Germany much, much more for the same gun. You folks are lucky indeed.
But hey, maybe we make more cash to begin with?.... ;D A Market matter?
Congrats on a good choice, I am too poor for such a piece. Wanna trade?
But I can't see so well anymore to shoot straight anyway!
-
ha! i may be in germany this year, but i dont think theyll let it on the plane!
