Title: Great day of shooting.
Post by: Onebaddj on January 18, 2012, 07:52:25 PM
Well today the kids were at school the wife worked last night so I had the day to myself. I colored some popsicle sticks so each had 2 1/4 in red targets on the then set them up on my range in the back yard. Once I pulverized them I decided I needed a better challange. I went out in the garage and looked at my squirrel resetable target inserts but those would make too much noise when hit. So I grabbed a peice of wood and drilled a 1/2 in hole in one side and a 3/8 in hole in the other side and staked it in the ground then put paint balls on golf tees behind it. The idea is to have to shoot through the holes in the wood to kill the paint balls. Well as you can see it took a couple shots to get it right. There was a slight breeze today that threw it off a little but I watched a leaf just in front of the target and shot when it was still. I actually snuck the pellets through both holes and killed the paint balls! I then decided to try to cut some matches. Havent done it in a while so why not. Well it took about 6 shots apaeice but I got 2 of them. Man it was just to the right then just to the left then a nick then just to the right. lol The matches are about as thick as the crosshairs at 21 yards. Hard to see. I will try to get some video tomorrow. I gotta find my camera and get it all charged up. I like my little range. Wife not too happy cause I sit at the table and shoot out the living room window but its my house too and shes asleep so she cant say no. lol I love this 2250 I built. Super accurate and stoopid quiet. Makes the perfect indoor backyards shooter with enough power to take down pests. Hope tomorrow is as pretty as it was today. Almost forgot, all shots were from 21 yards with my modded 2250 with bipod starting fill pressure was 1500 psi, 3-9 bug buster scope and 14.66 gr HN/Beeman ftt.

Thank you gentlemen. My gamo resetting target fits in the box perfectly so i can shoot it also if i want and it reflects the sound of impacts so the neighbors and wife arnt bothered too much when i shoot the steel targets. They are still building houses in my neighbor hood also so he sound of the nail guns covers my shooting also.

I'm jealous of that setup. I'm stuck shooting in the house, a townhouse no less.  :-(

Sometimes paper is just not enough!!!!  We need reactive targets. :D  Great ideas with the "Paintball behind the hole" and popsicle stick targets.

The grey stuff is some heavy duty foam i found at work. I can stand on it and it only smashes about an inch and i weigh 190. Works great in the traps, really quiets things down and the sticker targets stick perfectly.

Yep paper targets and paintballs were getting boring so i started thinking this up to make it challanging. So i drilled the holes in the wood. I need to drill a couple holes in the wood box to hang my little chicken target.
