Hi Folks!
I like to buy a new beeman r1 in .20 cal.
What is the max velocity for the R1 in .20? I heard its about 860 FPS with 13,5 gr pellets? Is that true?
-
I have a carbine but its been a while since i chronied it and have forgotten. I'll Check it tomorrow
And get back to you.
-
Chronied my carbine today and the 11.2 Beeman fts's averaged in the 850's. 13.6 JSB's averaged in the 730's. 860's with that weight pellet seems a stretch though. Maybe with a ram
strut conversion. carbines and full length barrel velocities may vary as well. My regular sided .20 R1 is about 100 fps off the pace of the Straight Shooters "our take" velocity charts. But then again, that's on a spring that's on a +25 years old too. Hope this info helps. tjk

Why are you inquiring about maximum velocity? will you be hunting or plinking? this rifle does both phenominally well. Magnum springers tend to like heavier pellets making your fps lower than advertised but the fpe (impact at target) and accuracy will be through the roof! I say buy it!11 I have a R1 .20 Carbine and i absolutely love it.
-
Thanks for the help! Hmm and whats with the R9 in .20 cal.? Its not so heavy like the R1... is the accuracy and the fpe still the same?
-
No. The R9 is not as powerful as the R1. But it can be tuned for more power. There are a lot of different options you can take with both models regarding different types of tunes. It is all in what each individual wants and expects from their rifle. Some want high power regardless of how accurate they can or can't shoot their AG, while some want supreme accuracy and pay little attention to the power/velocity side of that coin.
-
a stock R9 shoots about 730fps out of the box an R1 is usually 800fps out of the box and their both deadly accurate I perfer the R1's over the R9/HW95 guns yes their about a LB heavier in the carbine version and their also much better made than the R9 and more tunable I had 2 20cal R1's I had one that I tuned and had the tube sunnen honed with a Vortek kit that was shooting 11.4gr FTT's at 880fps which is way to much power! its better at around 850fps is much nicer to shoot and more accurate! When you try to push an R9 into the R1 power range the shot cycle gets pretty nasty for such a light gun! so if you want a little more power get the R1 JMHO :P
-
Did you make any decisions yet?
-
not trying to highjack this discussion but i have shot my R1 practically every day since i got it and it just wows me every time i pull the trigger, i enjoy hunting with it so much that i have made life-size squirrel targets out of Plastilene for target practicing in the backyard.
-
I'va made a decision! I've ordered a R1 in .20 cal., and i've installed a Titan XS Mainspring in it.... now its shooting around 770 FPS with
JSB Pellets !!!!, The first 30 Shots ive made was in the 940-960 FPS range, thats not normal, what was wrong with the rifle on the first shots??
-
Congrats!
-
I see you've made a choice...good for you! I don't have an R1 but I do have the R9 in .20 and love it. If you want more power in your next rifle.... try the RX2 in .20 caliber. It's a cannon.

excess lube from the factory causes detonation and the velocity's jump up or spike like that, Beeman's tend to be over lubed from the factory and you'll usually find excess lube on top of the piston seal that's causing the problem :P
-
Congrats on your decision, you made a great choice! Here is mine:

Way Cool. Those preliminary shots are your rifle dieseling. If the rifle made a loud bang internally, then I would agree with Mark that it could have detonated a few times as well. The R1's are well built and tough rifles so I doubt they would suffer too much damage from those first few shots. Just keep shooting it for a while and continue cycling out the excess factory lubes. You may need to replace the seal if your fps start dropping or become erratic with extremely wide variences in velocity. I am a big fan of the Titan springs, and when installed with a properly fitted piston seal, they add good power without a rough shot cycle and piston slam. Did you get the carbine or the standard length barrel? Good Luck with your new R1!!! Happy Days indeed!! ;)

I still have my beeman r1 laser, carbine, chrome piston, 20 cal. it has never been back to beeman for any problem what so ever. it has killed 3-4 hundred squirrels and many other types of game over the years. and is still deadly to this day. you made the right choice. enjoy it for many years to come. it was special ordered in 1987.

Hi Folks!
I'd send it back to the shop, because the rifle is defective!
There was a loud "baaang" with lots of smoke after the shot and my pellet trap is dented... it smells like burned tire-rubber.
Now, after this fault i can't cock the rifle...
I've also a HW77 in .177 cal. and all is still fine! my hw77 does sometimes also loud banging but nothing happend.
My next one is a Cometa Fenix 400 in .22....

What's your location BC? If you opened up your gun, you may have voided your warranty. You would be better off tearing it back down, clean everything, and rebuild it with proper lubrication and the proper amount in the correct places.
