Well being on leave so my ankle can heal up from surgery is startin to get expensive! Lol well my 1377 was next on the list. I am starting with a 14 in barrel and barrel band from mellon air and shoulder stock from pa and a multi breech and ultimate bolt from croked barn. The flat top piston and valve will be next on the list. Just gotta wait till next payday for those.
Cant wait to start the build.
-
multi breech as in multi caliber or multi shot?
-
They call it a multi breech but it is a single shot breech made a lot nicer than crossmans.
-
can't wait to see pics once you get the parts in and get it together.
good luck with the ankle
-
Yea, will enjoy those pics as I just got a 1377 and already looking to mod it.
-
ur gonna LOVE that barrel from mellonair, just wait till you see the cut and crown... i feel bad i cant show off the cut and crown all polished up slippery smooth on my 2400kt 17in barrel since i use a 7.5 tko on it

I highly recommend getting a solid pin replacement for the pump arm. After you knock the roll pin out once, it will never hold the same way and gets rather annoying on repeated tear downs, too.
Replacing that pin and the plastic breech are my top two mods for the 13xx's.
I like Mellon's a lot. With the bushing and re-enforcing ring, there is no wobble left in the arm which makes pumping feel a lot more solid (I have a Mellon solid pin with the brass end nuts and a GMAC brass barrel band on my 1377. I recommend both).
Another I've used is Michael Chavka's metal barrel band that comes with a solid pin (it is the same design that Blue Fork used to make... I've seen Chavka offers them on the Green and Yellow Forum classifieds). I'm using it on my 1322 and it is a nice part that also has an additional set screw built in to it for locking the barrel down. My only adjustment to it is I had to make my own re-enforcing ring to add to it to get the pump arm to be wobble-free.
If you've got the budget, a metal barrel band is a good upgrade too. I used the 1389 plastic barrel band for awhile on my 1377, but I did not like how much play was left in it when it came to pumping. On mine, I could watch the barrel shift up and down from the pump arm extending and pushing against/flexing the plastic band up.

1377's are Dangerous Too ones wallet. Lol
Heal up and Enjoy!

Pete, if you keep showing those things, I'm gonna have to build one myself! ;D
Seriously, I am putting my list together for a 1322 build.
-
Nice guns,Pete.

Sounds like a real nice shooter will be posted here soon nice choice of componets.

It funny. I just got done looking at the pins on mellon air then went and looked at my pistol and realized i would need them. So i just ordered the solid pin kit and flat top piston and valve. I was gunna wait till next payday but figured i would just rip it apart once. Im not burning $75 a week in gas so may as well buy parts for the 1377. Also found the trigger spring with delrin guide and pins for the trigger. Should smooth it out a little and lighten the trigger pull weight. Got them off the tko site when i ordered the tko 6.5 in break for the 1377. Got one for my 2250 also. That should have both my shooters about modded out for now. Will post pics when shes all together.
NPETEY, those are some sweet 1377's. On the one on top did you just punch out the stock front sight so you could slide the barrel through or is that an after market front sight barrel band?
-
Got some more parts today! The 14 in mellon air barrel and barrel band arrived today. The crown he puts on these barrels is amazing! So shiny its unreal. So the barrel and narrel band are in. The 6.5 in carbon wrap tko break and tko trigger spring are in. Got the crosman shoulder stock. Now just waiting on the steel pin, flat top piston and valve from mellon air and the croked barn breech with long probe bolt. The breech and bolt shold be here soon! Oh yeah. Getting excited. Will get chrony numbers tomorrow in stock form so i will have good before and after numbers.

WOW very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!
looking forward to see it finished

Got my breech in today from Croked barn and it is sweet. Its aluminium with a long probe bolt and it can have the bolt either right or left handed. Nice machine work and finish on breech and bolt. And the barrel from mellon air is awesome. SO I put the bolt breech and barrel together and all parts meshed very well. Installed it on the pistol then the new tko break went on and man it is so quite. Love that. I ordered the barrel band but have not gotten the steel pin yet so I used a step drill bit to drill out the stock band with front sight to 7/16 so the barrel would fit through. I kind of like having the front sight still also. Next came the chrony tests. Before the mods with a bone stock gun they were
JSB 7.3 avg 495.75, 8.4 472.6, 10.2 433.7, HN Barracuda match 10.65 gr 432.7, crow mags 8.9 471.25, and PBA(since its a pumper) 562.1
After breech and barrel 7.3 554, 8.4 524.5, 10.2 480.4 hn 10.65 466, crow mags 8.9 514.1 and the PBA 591.1.
so on average there was about a 40 fps gain. Some more some less. The barrel is 14 in instead of 10.5 and the breech is longer so I can free float the barrel and also has 2 grub screws to hold the barrel. There is a tiny puff of air leaking from the breech area with each shot. Will have to look into that when I tear it down to install the ft piston and valve. I figure the barrel still has alot of lead that needs run through it before it starts to really perform well. I cleaned the snot out of it and it has only had about 20 pellets run through it. I will get the pics attached as soon as I can. I gotta resize them then attach. And if the ft piston and valve add even 80 fps that will be cool. Well gotta go work on the pics.

Nice looking breech ! Do you need a pump arm i have extras you can have one might even have a black one.
Mike

That is going to be a sweet shooter.
-
Thanks guys.
Yes compared to the steel breech from crosman I got this one is awesome. Its lighter and longer better finish and fit on the parts. Double the price of the crosman one but 10x better quality. And it has a dovetail one the full length of the breech along with spots machined for stock sights or after market one. Im impressed with it for sure. And the gun is light still. Once complete and sighted in this thing will be a back yard pest stomper.
Im really wondering how the breech and barrel would perform on my 2250. If I can get 14.66 pellets to 751 fps, how fast could I get 177 pellets to go and still be accurate? HMMMM

Well finally got my ft piston and valve in yesterday so today i set to rip the 1377 apart amd finish it. Whaat a pita that turned out to be! The rolled steel pin they use to keep the front sight on had to be drilled out and that took about an hour to finaly get out. Went slow made sure i wanst tearing up the tube. With the front end finally off i had to smooth out and debur everything so i didnt chew up the new parts. After that and a torough cleaning i slid the new valve in and the outlet port on the valve dosnt line up with the center or the transfer port to the barrel! Dang it! Well put the front of the gun together and ops checked it with the original pinston and it works. Alrighty, so then i got the steel pin kit and bushing ready for install put the new piston in and too long. Adjusted it to just barely longer than the stock piston and it golden. Get pretty good pressure about 1/2 from closed and pump handle stays closed after pumping. Put it all together tighten everything then check once more then off to the chrony lab, aka spare bed room. The final numbers are
Jsb 7.3 589 fps, 8.4 557 fps, 10.2 504 fps, hn 10.65 500 fps and the pba were 668.
Not too bad. Final numbers were about 70 fps gain on average. Just for giggles i pumped it up 20x and got the 10.65 gr up to 572 and the pba up to 779. With 15 pumps the 7.2's went 657. But man what a work out pumping it 20 times and after the first shot with 20 pumps there was still enough air for a 200 fps shot with the pba and 40 fps in creas on a 10 pump shot with the 10.65 gr pellets. That tells me it wasnt keeping the valve open long enough to get all the extra air out. Well wasnt my favorite project but i did learn some stuff so was worth it.
Total list of mods, croked barn breech and bolt, mellon air 14 in barrel ft piston and valve, steel pin kit, tko break and trigger spring kit and the crosman shoulder stock.

It's just too easy to loose track on how much we $pend on 1377'$$$$. It's my preferred pest sniping AG in my backyard during this colder months. I switch to my co2's during the warmer months.
-
Yeah when its 20 here and 40 there it makes it easy to loose track. Lol
-
yea...... but what fun ;D
-
Oh ya ..the monetary devastation one may incur is soon over shadowed by the outright joy of completing the build. lol. ;)
Sorry I didn't get back to ya regarding the barrel band....Lost track of the thread.
I see you got though... I used a 7/16" bit , turn it by hand so as to keep a tight fit.

OneBadDJ, do you like the tko trigger spring kit? Is it the "TKO 22xxT Adjustable Pistol Trigger Kit"?
