I just got this today now I need it to stop raining so I can go out and play....:)
-
Sweet! I've been yearning for this rifle!
More pics, chrono, and groups please!
-
Thanks Tod, I got it used off the GTA Classifieds Gate but man it's just barley used. It's a Mike Melick lube tuned job with a bamboo stock and a 4x16 leapers scope. I don't have a croney, but I'll try to get some groups in a few days.

Very,very nice!
Mike Melick lube tuned job with a bamboo stock and a 4x16 leapers scope.
Man! That is as good as anyone could dream of!!
Sweeeet! ;)
Also, let me know how the pistol-grip effects your "artillery hold". I have been pondering that thought for weeks, I've never shot a pistol-gripped, spring-piston gun.
-
Very cool. That stock must be fairly light weight, but strong.

It looks good and feels good too Richard . I wish it'd quit raining so I could check it out . If I can justget use to shooting a springer !
-
This is a great gun, Mike's tunes only make them better.
Still, be prepared for a shot cycle that is more intense than alot of others, especially if you are still in the early stages of springer shooting, or just don't shoot them well.
Does it have the trigger mod? If so, this is a big plus, as trigger pull can be a big factor on this model. The pistol style grip will definitely help also.
This gun can eat a scope quickly, if not well broken in. I have never had good results from this model benched (never really had any steller results from any springer benched) but do get very good groups gripped in the front hand with front hand rested.
Start at 10-15 meters and get your groups as tight as you can before moving on out to 30-40 yds.
I haven't really found the best pellet for mine yet, I think....... but with lubed Crosman Domes, I can still get a Campbells Soup reliably at 50 yds, and open sighted.
The other b-25 I had that was scoped, could hang with an RWS 34 any day of the week in the accuracy dept. Lost count of the small stuff it took, but took several larger fowl (turkey size) at 45-50 yds with headshots.
These like the cheap chinese domes, like TF or Beeman. RWS domes, and Crosman Domes do okay as well. JSB's do about the same, but really don't outperform any of the cheaper brands, so unless you just like JSB's or they group exceptionally in yours, there are cheaper options that do just as well. This gun definintely LIKES a coated or lubed pellet, and seems to prefer a tad larger dia. I need to try out some H&N FTT's in various larger sizes, got a feeling like these would be the winner.
If you have some of the H&N's in the larger sizes, 5.53-5.55 and they work well, would you contact me and let me know?
God bless and enjoy that fine rifle,
Farmer

Very nice clone. I had my eye on the sharkfin stocks when they were available in the beech/mystery chinese stocks but they either werent in stock, offered or imported in the US market. Kinda got some grey area responses on them. not worthy too because they looked really nice on the Internet AG dealers. I think the more vertical pistol grip will aid in its shootibility. The Chinese springs are pretty stout in power, and if that's the dirrection you want to go then good. If you want a smoother shot cycle, you should look into a Maccarrri spring. The piston seals are hit and miss, but if the oem seal is in good shape, they seem to be to work sufficiantly enough that a replacement is really up to you. Maccarri lubes are manditory though ;) Good luck with your new shooter!!! She's a beauty :)

I like the bamboo stock idea, never seen one in person. Sure looks good in your pic, please keep us posted on performance!

I'm not new to shooting, (old school power burner Ruger 77, 22-250 reloads 1/2 MOA at 100yds) but my personal experience with springers is like less than 200 shots so I know I'll have some work to do. I've had this rifle less than 24 hours now and it's been raining almost the entire time and I'm about to get a good case of cabin fever ! It looks great feels great and the pistol grip is comfortable to me. I haven't even locked the scope down good yet as I would like to make sure it's where I want to leave it . The only pellets I have are CPHP and all it said on the package is 5.5mm, no weight, so I think I'll go look for a variety pack . I've also got a new QB57 on the way from Archer so when we get some sun shine I'm gonna have some fun..........:)
-
Just starting out/back into springers.....
Straight Shooters has a great sampler pack. Reasonably priced. This will get you somewhere in the neighborhood.
Get one and make it your test pack. When your gun shoots a certain pellet well, go buy some tins of that, and be done with it, replacing your test pellets back in the pack.
Or you can do it like I have, and have 15-20 different tins laying around that you never shoot, except to test and then say "Yep, another gun they won't shoot out of" :)
God bless,

I shot this thing today....Totally unsatisfactory....I can't believe I'm that bad, and I can't imagine what could be wrong with the rifle, but there was no such thing as a group. It was all I could do to keep it on paper at 15 yrds. ( well a half a page anyway ). The only .22 cal. pellets I have are CPHP and nothing else is available locally . So I'll have to make a road trip to find some variety.......:(
-
first thing to do is check your hold, same evry time? second is to run it in some, just shoot it, may take 50 shots for it to settle in....
-
I would put a tin of the CPHP's through it before I even thought about groups. The above advice about pellet samplers is right on point. I didn't follow it and I have several tins that won't shoot in any of my guns. Pyramyd Air's buy 3 get the 4th one free is a pretty good deal. If your B-25 is anything like my RWS 34 it will love H&N FTT's--5.54 head size. Don't panic about the accuracy and read up on the artillery hold. Personally I've never found that strictly speaking the artillery hold works for me(except with the Ruger Air Magnum) but reading about it will give you some idea about the hold sensitivity of springers and the difference in technique from PB's. With practice and correct pellet selection you should be fine.

OK, the rifle was not new but should have only about 200 - 300 rounds when I got it. I shot about 75 today and I was using bags I tried several different holds from just one the bag to holding to off the bag none of which made any difference. I'm not giving up but ready to try some different pellets.
-
Congrats! I love the bamboo stocks. Reminds me of the dragonov style of stock.
Id try different pellets for sure. Ive never had good luck with crossman pellets. And remember to relax. I had shot of few off then started getting agitated and everything got worse. Would not recommend gamo pellets either. Try some jsb or hnor neeman. Jsb has a nice 22 sampler now.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

William,
Thanks to another member here, I got a measurement on head sizes of FTT's. You may wanna try these....seems like my new b-25 is okay with pellet heads that measure in the .216 1/2 head size range. But really shines at .217 1/2 or .218 head size. This gun has a larger bore than some, I think. But dont waste your time trying anything that is .216 1/2 or less which is the majority of the pellets I measured today, from cheap chinese pellets, to crosman to 2 kinds of JSB. To convert this to MM for ya, anything that is 5.53 or above.....5.55 might be a hair too big. If the pellet head passes thru the breech end of the barrel easily on mine, I get like 3/4 of an inch at 15 yds which is HORRIBLE. But the .217 1/2 or greater, which took a little effort to seat the heads, shot under a dime for 7 shots, which is more like it for that distance in .22.
Hope this helps, and if it does thank Glassman98, not me.
God bless,
Farmer

Thanks Farmer,
I'm working 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM right now so not a good chance to do any shooting or anything else for that matter. As soon as I can I'm going pellet shopping for sure, and I'll keep this in mind. Do any of these have a name or brand and have you found one that shoots for you? I'm gonna practice my hold and try several different pellets too, but if my hold gets any lighter I'm afraid I'll drop my rifle....LOL Thanks for the info I'll probably need all the help I can get. I'd really like to find someone local that could help, maybe watch me and see if they could see what I'm doing wrong. Any way let me know when you find the favorite pellet for yours it might just work for me too.
Any more suggestions, ideas are welcome also, and thanks to all

if you are benching the rifle keep one hand under it, don't rest on bags. If a loose hold doesn't work then try one thats a bit firmer...even the pressure from your trigger hand can effect it...kind of tricky until you get used to springers...Straight shooters has a good article on how to shoot springers on their site...

Thanks pappa, I had already read the post in the link on GTA. I've watched the video from PA where the guy even uses the back of his hand ( good video ). I'm not giving up and not giving the rifle a bad rating either. I just haven't found the right combination yet ( pellet, hold or ? ). Mike.... I've used on the bad off the bag on my hand loose tight I have an idea I may be holding too much with my right hand ( trigger finger ). Any way everyones help is very much appreciated, and I'm still trying to find the combination that will work for me. I haven't had a chance to shoot it much, but I'll be off for a few days now and I'll be looking for several different pellets, and also trying to work with my hold too.
I will be pondering as many possibilities as i can come up with....LOL....william
