Title: Korean big bore quality
Post by: grumpy on January 07, 2012, 05:35:00 AM
I have read so much on the Korean guns my head is spinning. The general consensus is they are a great deal and well made. But, always a but ain't there ?, they can require going out to a tuner.

This costs money that can move them up to a price point where its the same price or cheaper to just buy another gun.

Can anyone who owns them please share their experience with them. Thanks

Dave

To send them to a tuner ia a personal choice, they are just fine without the tune

With a tune SamYang's run against anything at their power level and will beat almost all of the custom bigbore .45 rifles when it comes to accuracy (even without a tune).

I would not trade my tuned 909 for anything at this power level (260-280fpe).....it's a handy little hunting package.

I've got three of these guns, in .357, .457, and .50 caliber. I've had a couple of the double tube as well, but these are single tube versions. My .457 is tuned and the best shooting of the three, but all had adequate power and accuracy out of the box for hunting the appropriate game at the appropriate ranges. Almost any gun can be made better with a good tune, but you can also choose not to, or do it later, and still have an excellent hunting rifle. Everybody likes to say you get what you pay for ...... Sometimes you get more. I think these guns are a great value if your in the market for a big bore.

Dave,

Nothing wrong with the KOREAN guns at all as far as quality goes.  I've had the 9mm Ultra and the Dragon Slayer 50 which is now a 454.  And as mentioned above, tuning is usually a preference by the owner rather than necessity.
