A shipment of these rifles has arrived in South Africa.
2011 Dec 24
The RWS320 is a Weihrauch HW85/95 clone manufactured in China by BAM.
The quality of the rifle is BAM at its best.
The rifles are sold here with a 1 year guarantee and full spares back-up.
Chronied yesterday at 6000ft altitude after a lube-tune, ±780fps was measured using JSB 8.44gr 4.52mm pellets.
The breech seal is the same as the HW85.
The piston seal is the same as the Gamo Hunter 440 and all its clones and Air Arms TX200/Prosport.
The design of the barrel hinge-pin is the same as the HW85.
The two shims around the hinge-pin between the barrel-block and the receiver are an improvement on the HW design.
The trigger group is an accurate clone of the HW Record, but has two improvements:
1. The first stage adjustment is better than on the Record.
2. the second stage pressure adjustment is easier with the adjustment screw being more robust.
The cocking plate is an improvement on the HW design.
The rifle comes with a no-name 4x32 scope which has two scope mounts and no recoil stops.
I find these mounts inadequate, and recommend that the Gamo medium height 1 piece mount be used instead..

It sounds kinda cool. Where are the pictures?

Sounds like someone found a crate of new-old stock. These were made at least ten years ago and were the BAM20 done up for RWS. I think the stocks and bluing were a bit nicer, however, I don't think they are the equal of an R9, and I have one. The tubes are also 25mm, if I'm not mistaken, so the later Chinese BAM26 (?) parts will be 1mm too large. Other than that, they are pretty decent guns and not a bad alternative to the R9 if you don't want to spend that much for one. There were some issues with the early guns. IIRC, these can be ID'd either by the s/n or the red rubber buttpad. The info is out there on the 'net, I'm sure.
