Title: Stoeger X20S
Post by: wingshooter21 on December 28, 2011, 05:32:13 AM
I got a Stoeger X20S for Christmas, this gun is very nice. It is easy to cock and is light weight too. There is no loud twang with the spring when it is fired. It is more difficult to shot than my Titan GP, but I think I found the right way it wants to be held. The firing cycle is smooth and there isn't a loud pop when fired. I can clearly hear the pellet hit the trap 20 yards away. I can't hear that with the Titan GP so I would have to say the sound suppression is working good. So far I am happy with it, the packaged scope is not really any good and is going to be replaced real soon, but for breaking it in, it is good for now. I forgot to note, that I shot these guns from inside my house out  across my backyard and there is no complaints from my wife in the house about the noise level of this gun, she does complain however about the Titan.

I got one for xmass as well. I knew it was coming so I pre-ordered a trigger and new leapers 4x12 40mm scope.  I would suggest you do the same...replace the trigger, swap the scope and clean the barrel. You can then start to learn how to shoot it...that's the part I'm stuck on.  It's very accurate...I'm the one who can't shoot for beans.

A friend of mine has an X20 but he's always complaining about two thing, one being the horrible trigger and, two the fact that it is quite picky with what pellets it likes. Are either of these an issue for you guys? Or is his an odd one out?

At 10 yds with the X20S stock trigger and 4x scope, shots are within about 0.7" ctc.  IMO the trigger and scope are not very good.  Once I replaced the trigger with the GRT II, I can hit within 1" circle at 25 yrds (limited by the dot on the 4x scope which covers the 1.25" diameter circle at 25 yrds).

If anything, I'd recommend your friend replace the trigger with the GRT II or III(?), well worth the investment.

I have the Stoeger x 20 i love that rifle, yes i bought a grt 111 replacement trigger from
charlie da tuna .the  3 x 9 x 40 scope is fine , just had to adjust the
rec tile.
I refinished mine in golden pecan now it pops and grabs your attention.

make sure the barrels get cleaned thoroughly on any new air rifle then shoot them.
I bought a stoeger right after i got a RWS 350  and was so in awe of the RWS  i sent the stoeger back thinking it was &^^& lol
but later bought it again, and its not &^^& that's a very good  rifle feels lite but its really about 1 oz lighter then the crosman nitro venom..22
 I highly recommend the stoeger X20 .
b t w  i called stoeger  and they sent me a new safety for free after i told them i replace the trigger  and  messed up the safety by filing to much off.
i have the RWS 350. 22 the RWS Dianna 34 .22 just recently grabbed a crossman optimist . 22 too and that's a winner. both had awesome prices

could some one measure a barrel on a x20s and tell me how long it is both the x10 and x20 and x20s clam 16.5 long but from Pict's looks like the suppressor barrel assemble maby be a touch longer than a regular x20 i noticed a lot the gun makers are not exact on there gun  specks the measurement i am looking for is from breach where pellet flushes out to the end of the suppressor total barrel length

It seems that these are pretty universal issues. Most airgunners suggest finding the pellet that a specific gun "likes", and triggers can almost always be improved on. :D

I have found that my gun likes H&N Sport wadcutters and JSB Jumbo express, so far that is it. Anything from Crosman is not working at all.

i took my x20s and put the wood stock on it and cdt trigger plus had it rammed.it was used when i got it and shot OK but after having gas piston installed with trigger it was deadly accurate at 30 yards now.it did require a little break in to smooth out but now its great and when i switched the stocks even more noise went away that the synthetic stock amplified.with the wood stock noise was almost gone and hold sensitivity just about left the gun.Very pleased with this gun.i have 3 Stoegers and really have good accurate guns in all three. For the money they are hard to beat.
