The last shot of it leaving.....no more 12 lands for me
(http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad257/critter99/IMG_1087.jpg)
A kind gentleman looking for a project will be giving it a go
Maybe we will see it here up and shooting soon
now where is that 20 cal??
-
Does this mean your near constant beratement of the 12 land RWS guns will cease? Or do I wish to loftily?
Clark
-
nope I still have opinion that the 12 land barrels not so good and will steer all I can away from them to the newer T06 models
-
8 lands are the german produced barrels? All 12 lands barrels from Diana are made in China?
Why is it that HW uses 12 lands on their barrels too? Had HW ever had other barrels with different rifling? Or is it just that Diana 12 lands barrel are not that good?
-
I think HW spends alot more on machining, materials and actual QC...its not number of lands that make them not so good its the overall quality is very low.
If you had both in front of you (HW 12 land, RWS 12 land) and looked inside the bores with a light you would see how sloppy the RWS 12 land was made
-
Alright guys. Tom is allowed his opinion, and Yes he does not care for the 12 landers. But he has not brought is it up in months....so lets not make a big deal out of things. Please and thank you.
On a side note glad you got rid of that thing. Life is too short for "problem child" airguns...Cheers Bart
BTW HWnut please watch the HW video sticky'd to the top of the german gate page.....Its AWESOME ;D ;D
-
the vid also shows why their barrels work....
Craftsmen working on them versus poorly paid machine operators in China? factories. We never did really know where they came from
-
$9.00 per day or less, and that is 12 hours. Glad the 12 lander is gone for CHRISTMASS
-
BTW HWnut please watch the HW video sticky'd to the top of the german gate page.....Its AWESOME ;D ;D
Thank you. I already watched it. HW barrels are still straightened by "hand". Weihrauch rifles are the only German guns I buy.

I would have to say that,Tom was unfortunate enough to get a real Bad 12 groove barrel.I have a 34P with a 12 Groove choked barrel that shoots fast and 1/2 groups at 20 yards. The only thing that was wrong with mine was I had to find the 2 pellets it liked,(The H&N FTT's and CPHP's). The other thing was my Pride! Once I got passed that and cleaned the outside with Ballistol,,she looks Good and Shoots Great!
Just like the HW 85 Luxus I had,,Tom got a Lemon with the 34 like the HW85 I sold last summer. It happens sometimes.
Thanks

What really got me was the second one that UMAREX sent was supposedly inspected by UMAREX (and I asked please send one with 8 lands for all my troubles, they sent another 12 land >:( )and was worse than the first as far as the barrel. The barrel off the first one on the compression tube from the second one would have built a good rifle. But UMAREX really does not work on rifles much
I was going to get a Diana 54 next but the lack of support by UMAREX pushed me over to the HW97....
Still I like the T06 Classic .177 it shoots great slightly slower but likes alot of different pellets...the only thing I would do different now would be I should have got it in a 22 cal.
-
Well I'll be Honest Tom,,My 34P shoots Great and I've managed to overlook the Chinese barrel,But to be Perfectly Honest with you,I have a 350 mag with the Vortek it and it has the 8 groove German barrel and it's simply the Best springer I have.I've learned to live with the 12 groove barrel and it's accurate, but that's not saying I wouldn't have liked to have waited and bought the 8 land 34P,,but being Impatient on the 34P I ended up with what I got.
I am now 99% Satisfied with the 34,,but I am also planning on buying another 34 and it's gonna be the T06 in .22 so I can swap out stocks if I want to.I'm Happy Diana has gone back to their Roots and have cut out the outsourced stuff.
My next springer is going to be the HW97K and then perhaps I'll grab another 34 after that.
I do like the .22 as well, but the next 34 I buy will most likely be in .177 so I have at least one.Lets Hope they stay where they are now.
-
Seems like the 12 land 22 cals did alot better....maybe it was easier to hold tolerances on the larger calibers?
I put the Vortek kit in the T06 Classic .177....to be honest it feels great just one thunk when fired. Accuracy I feel is the same just abit easier to and comfortable to shoot.
I have one of the 20 cal special builds comming I think that will be my last Diana for awhile unless UMAREX departs.
If UMAREX departs I am so getting a 54.
Have you looked at the Syn stocked 97s??
-
Good to hear you won't be posting about 12 Lands again Tom !!!
-
I think my HW97 has 12 lands ;D
-
All my HW rifles, HW97, HW77, HW95, HW80 have 12 lands... so.... nice rifles! :D
-
.22 350 8 land and .22 350 Pro Compack 8 land, .177 350 12 land coverted to .177 pro compack 12 Land. All good shooters, groupers, straight shooters and all shoot the same. GREAT!! ALL T05'S.
-
.22 350 8 land and .22 350 Pro Compack 8 land, .177 350 12 land coverted to .177 pro compack 12 Land. All good shooters, groupers, straight shooters and all shoot the same. GREAT!! ALL T05'S.
Nice WF,I guess my 12 groove 34P's not the only Good shooter in the 12 groove family! Bottom line is,,If it shoots Straight, and Fast, that's all that matters.
-
my b28 in 177, which i believe has that same barrel that rws used on there 350, is every bit as accurate as my older 350. i got lucky i guess
-
Some of us got LUCKY. Looks like if they will shoot the CPHP's they must be good. That's all I am shooting in mY 350 .177. I have a good stock of other brands but when the CPHP's shoot good there is no point in the high dollar ones. Only thing I have that does not like them is my WFH and it eats the poly mags up.
-
Glad to see it gone Tom.
I have a 12 land b-25 coming in from Mike, he shortened the barrel so the gun is 41 OAL. Hopefully this one is a shooter. I sold my last 2 34's one was a 12 land P, the other a 6 land normal 34. Both T05. Both were really good shooters, I just hate the length on a 34....and a pro compact only comes in .177. I'd be all over a Pro Compact in .22 like white on rice if they would just crank one out....
Ya know, I think its just luck of the draw with the 12's vs. the 8's. Seems like the 8's shoot a variety of pellets overall better than the 12's. The 12's all shoot lights out with a few pellets though, they seem to like superdomes, TF domes, FTT's and kodiaks. All in .22 of course. The 34 p (12 land) would actually group smaller than the older 34 with the 8 land , by a 16th or so at 30 yds. But the 34 p preferred Kodiaks, while the regular 34 with the 8 land would shoot most any pellet I put down it, cheap crosmans, jsbs, china pellets, you name it.
Seems like I hear you saying that you're more disappointed with Umarex. I would have to agree. I have dealt with them a few times, and only once was I 1/2 way satisfied. Very poor customer service.
Heck, look at Crosman....you might be getting the same chinese barrels there, but at least they will work with you till its right...there is your difference.
Anyway, hopefully have a 12 land coming that will be as good as my last b-25....can honestly say, my first b-25 shot as well as any 34 I had owned.
Funny too, the 12 land you would have gotten, if it were of chinese origin, should be like a blackhawk/airhawk barrel. I've heard lots of good about those.....
Glad its over with in time for the holidays, how you liking that new t06 trigger? Any signifigant change good or bad over the t05?
God bless,
Farmer

You can't compare Crosman to Diana in this case. Diana contracted with a supplier who failed to maintain quality control. Those barrels that did pass through Diana to the consumer were, supposedly, inspected and approved. That they don't shoot everything as well as the 8-grooved is sort of luck of the draw. Crosman is getting their barrels from China and, yes, will work with you to make it right, but then they have the guns or barrels to keep exchanging, unlike Diana where it was a limited run. That Crosman can send you two or three guns doesn't necessarily cure the problem, just sweep it under the rug. It also speaks to how cheap those guns are to Crosman. Consider that Diana did not flood the market with their Chinese barreled guns. These were only limited to two models and for a brief period of time. Crosman sells many times the number of Chinese guns. How many are under-performers but remain in the hands of WalMart shoppers who have never heard of tuning or air gun forums? Might be those barrels aren't so great, either.
