Title: M417 camo started
Post by: shadow on December 03, 2011, 09:34:42 PM
Nothing much to look at now but just the Hunter Green base color on. All the important area's were masked off, loading port etc. etc. The original Tiger strip camo had some off white and light brown in it with the black tiger strip's. I will lay the white little slash's here and there frst and so on. This is a get to it when I can project and have several member camo and tune job's that come first. It took about an hour to mask off the key spot's and 3 hours to shoot the primer, dry then first paint coat. This will cure for several days before I start the camo patterns. Ed

WOW! That looks really good Ed. Looks like it came that way from Crosman. What primer did you use, rattle can plastic primer?

BigErn the primer is the RustOleum  brand for plastic. It has a white flat finish but prepping is still a must. Ed

Thanks brother Jeff and I will be putting in the highlight's around the patterns by hand with a brush. It takes longer but I like detailing hehe. The scope will be next and start on that some time next week between customer s project's. I thought about getting the TKO shroud for the end but really don't need it since I hunt 80% of the time on private land. I'm not too worried about the critters hearing it since they should only hear one shot the first and last one lol. I'm thinking of making a flash type muzzle brake for the end for look's only and it will get the camo knife also. Accessories will be a lamp with the red lense but no laser and I'm adding the emblem from my dads unit in nam, more detail brush painting. Ed

thats looks amazing ed, did you paint the plastic that is exposed when the pump handle is open or did you leave that black to avoid the paint being rubbed off ?

Thanks brothers and anything that moves did not get painted. No need to paint area's that don't show and will get rubbed off. Ed

Thanks brothers and if you plan to camo your M417 just take your time since these pumpers have a ton of ridges, bump's and edges to cover. The more that I look at the stock muzz brake that came on the shooter the more I like it go figure. I will camo it and put it back on along with getting the scope and lamp camo,ed up. Ed

Ed you know how I dislike pumpers..:) You have just about got me sold on one at that cheap price. Only if I can mod it to just pump once and get 800 fps....:)
