Title: Marty got 3 more ghogs
Post by: ranchibi on June 07, 2025, 04:34:09 PM
Marty was a patient man circling and stalking these ghogs in rainy conditions, all shot @ 25yds with his Stoeger Ranger .25! Excellent shooting Marty! He had spotted them @ 167yds!

Okay Marty, now you’re just showing off!!!   :P  Nice shooting on those G-Hogs!  It seems you have a plentiful supply, they just keep coming!

Me too. I shoot one and it’s like it was the last one on earth.

Obviously not.

Paul, Please believe me , I'm plum wore out after this morning. I sat on one side of the valley & watch 9 different 'hogs, while the one I was set up for never came
out! I was actually packing up to head home for late lunch when I dropped off my stool at the second gate & decided to try for the family of four along the fence .
I counted the posts from the gate I had to cross for a reference across the valley. After a swig of water & dropping off the stool I walked back along the fence to
within 25 yards & saw a brown head. A noggin shot anchored the adult, so I stood for about 30-45minutes through a couple rain showers & drying off sessions as
I got shots at the other two, meanwhile the cows came by to investigate ( luckily no bull in with them!). Yes ,I was in the cow pasture using bovines as camo!
After retrieving & proof photos ,I turned around to see another in the cut hay field cleaning out it's hole ! A quick range of 61 yards & a slide over to a post for a
rest, I waited again for a shot. Using my Trigger stick for a rear rest made almost bench rest stability. A shot at a small stone gave me my crosshair point of aim.
It popped out & I sent a Hades it's way w/o connecting! A couple minutes later it gave me my redemption with a back of the noggin connection & tail flagging.
Problem was I had to crawl under a four strand electric fence three times for retrievals ! ( WHAT A WHINER!) I didn't get a pic of the last 'hog ,but I sent Randall
a photo of my stand over my scope w/ a circle of the 'hog's mound.

Clever Bovine hunting hide ;) Marty! I also like your trick of using a post and the trigger stick, I will have to remember that, otherwise I just see a post and think great I don't need my sticks LOL

James , Thanks. Yes ,as far as the "Bovine Camo" , in all seriousness I was "prepping" the 'hogs for the cleanup crew and had cows all around me when I'm
certain the #4 hog in the other field was out & about while clearing( or excavating a new burrow) & wasn't bothered by my presence or movements. And ,truth
be told the bipod rear rest was by accident when I was simply tiring of holding the gun on the post. I pulled the Stick away from the post & propped the gun
steady to give my arms a rest! HEY ( light bulb above Wiley Coyote) I can use this as a shooting platform!! TAA DAA!
