Good evening Airgunners!  Thank you for being part of the GTA.

So, I got the video ready to go live on YouTube.  I hope you all will take some time to go review what happened.

Here's the link

I'll post an update to everything tomorrow here in the Boss's corner.

Thank you all again for being part of the GTA.

Cheers

Hi Rick.

I watched the video and you are right.
It is not about that you did.
It is about guns in general.
Any gun of any type ie. Regular Fire Arms, Pellet Guns, BB guns, possibly squirt guns etc.

Best Wishes - Tom

I see no problems at all.

I just checked.
Requested videos on Colt .45, AR15, Stoeger Shotgun, etc..

I wonder if AI is doing the review of the videos or if at some point it is a human.  But either way, YT is very inconsistent in how they end up rating a video.  Seems kinda extreme in this case.  Just for kicks, you might change the name and act like it is a new video and upload it again, just to see if you get the same response.

Hey there..

Just uploading a video is not an issue.  This happened on LIVE, and they have different rules for live streaming.

I'm done trying with them on the live-streaming front.  I'll use Vimeo, which is a much better platform for me and integrates across everything I do.   I can publish the edited version back to YT as my podcast and get the same benefit.  And, on Vimeo, I can do unboxings, setups, and even live testing sessions if I care to.  So that's where I'll be.

Cheers
Rick

Youtube hasnt been the same since Google acquired it. They demonitized anything that mentions guns, yet they sell adds to gun accessory companies. Hypocrites.

Given the present social climate the administrators at YouTube are very wise to monitor the content.  Being on the wrong side of a social issue will get you canceled by one side or the other.  It’s a very fine line and corporate types are VERY aware of it.

We live in a litigious society.  If you haven’t been burned by a spurious lawsuit, scammed by an online con artist or just bent over by the government you’re lucky!  Media providers are driven to self-censor their content in an attempt to reduce their exposure and vulnerability.

hey there guys..

For those saying, "Their ballgame, their rules..."

I COMPLETELY agree. The issue is not their rules. The issue is that regardless of following their rules, they enforce penalties even when the rules are not broken. They have a policy not to handle a gun on a live stream. I learned that back during Expo 2021, and I've never handled one on a YT livestream since. No problem. Their site. Their Rules. I'll comply if I want to use their site.

The issue is that I did not break the rule.. but they still shut down the stream and deleted the video.

As with YT, the GTA rules are the GTA's rules. If you want to be here, you follow the rules. The difference is that we try extremely hard to ensure that the rules are applied equally to everyone.  I'm sure we make mistakes.  But we can also undo those mistakes pretty quickly because there's a real person on the other end to help address it.  That's not the case with YT.

I'm actually glad all this happened.  It was the push I needed to stop using them for my lives and move to another platform and make use of the flexibility that it affords.  I shot another live today and could actually touch the gun and showcase features live.. what an amazing concept.  There's more of that to come for sure.

You all have a good night.

Cheers
Rick

Goodbye, YT faulty enforcement!

Watching it again, it occurs to me that maybe you perturbed them off by urging people to view the alternate, non-google site.  Punishment, nothing to do with rules about handling firearms, clearly.  Maybe you've done it enough previously and so came up on their radar and this one was their limit. Yes, their semi-monopoly ballgame, they can make the rules, and break them too.

I think jon caught the real motive behind YT's actions. Rick has urged use of other channels before. They might have an internal (nonpublic) rule limiting how many times a competing channel can be promoted on their channel, i.e., three strikes and you're out.

The lawyers will respond...to other lawyers, if the need arises.

Best to move on. Personally, I am fed up with how every--and I do mean every--YT upgrade with "bug fixes" only makes it work more poorly. And I agree that the Google-YT connection changed things in a bad way.
