Title: Just for today: pick one for each powerplant!
Post by: splitbeing on June 01, 2025, 08:00:35 AM
Just for today... just for this moment?... reduce your arsenal to just one gun per powerplant.

For instance, one springer, one pcp, one co2, one multipump, and heck, let's even call the bb style powerplant of something like a daisy red ryder a different powerplant than the pellet springer category.

Basically what I have listed but take away a couple.
Any of the TX200s, PRod, 2300S, 499b, C9a.
The R1 has been with me since 1984 but, I can work in the TX200s myself, like the others.

Up on the gun deck this morning hoping for a squirrel.  I’ve got TWO pumpers charged, loaded, and leaning against the rail.  One is for the initial shot.  The other is in case I need a quick follow up. :D

So no, one of each just doesn’t work for me.

Hi Rion

In response to your hypothetical statement.
(Wow... I'm glad I don't actually have to do this in reality.)
So hypothetically speaking... if I had to pick just one.

1. In the Gas Ram category I would keep the 22 caliber Crosman Summit Ranger.
2. In the Spring Piston category I would keep the 177 caliber Stoeger.
3. I only have 1 Multi-Pump, so no choice there.

Best Wishes - Tom

Glad too it's not for real lol!

But if it was, here it goes:

Springer: Weihrauch HW35E in .177
MSP: Crosman 1322
SSP: Daisy 953S
CO2 Industry Brand QB78D in .22
PCP: Taichi X rifle in .177 (LW barrel)
BBs: Daisy 840

Thank you, Tom.  I didn't realize you had an APX until reading your reply to the hypothetical situation.  Have you found a way to make it accurate for you?

A nice set of classics, Francois!  Except the Taichi X, which I have never heard of!  Say more about it, if you don't mind!

Hi Rion.

It is reasonably accurate with .177 cal. Crosman 10.5 Grain Piranhas.
It is "lights out" accurate with .177cal. 10.03 Grain JSB KnockOut Hollolwpoint Slugs.

 Best Wishes - Tom

I have been having good accuracy with the 10.03 JSB Knockout slugs in many of my lower powered air rifles and pistols. Not to forget the higher powered ones also.

I don’t have many to chose from.

HW95 177 & & 22 barrels
Air force Talon P (Condorish now) 22 & 25 barrels
753
1377
1741 (1300kt + 1701 + 2240 =1741)

Leaving the AA 500 behind, oh no I can’t do this.

Reminton Summit break barrel, Norica Quick under lever in wood, TS45 with a pistol scope on the barrel or Fast Deer side levers, AR2078B co2 side lever. All .177 and scoped. XS 120D dual cal single stoke pistol same as a P17 and Daisy/Winchester 1911 co2 bb pistols. I ain't multi pumpin' anything and I have few to no problems in life most especially a PCP. And no gas ram.

A nice set of classics, Francois!  Except the Taichi X, which I have never heard of!  Say more about it, if you don't mind!

Thanks for the kind words Rion!

The Taichi X rifle was made by a Taiwanese company, Listone Industry, which I believe is no longer in business since the Covid curse. That’s unfortunate, it’s a very well built rifle. Machining of the parts is superb, and they came with medium-carbon steel choked barrels, as good as LW barrels IMO. This rifle is a dedicated target gun.

The rifle originally came with an 18’’ .22 caliber barrel and open sights, but I installed a 22.5’’ LW .177 barrel, and also a Tasco 6-24 x 40 AO scope. It’s regulated, single shot, and is under 2 Joules of energy for the Taiwanese market. Yes you read it right, under 2 Joules, that’s no more than 1.48 fpe! It now shoots @ around 4 fpe for target fun, more than enough for 10 and 25 meters shooting.

I also have the Taichi pistol, based on the same platform. The pistol has a 14’’ .22 caliber choked barrel, and is as accurate as I can be even though it’s not regulated. Both the pistol and rifle are filled to 3000 psi. I just can’t remember the shot count, but I think it’s over 20 shots per fill for each gun.

Cheers!

Not going to play. Too much to ask at this time. Right now it would be like asking me which limb (of 4) and which eye can I keep. I want to keep them all!
