Title: Dextromethorphan
Post by: Methuselah on May 31, 2025, 09:30:36 PM
Geeze, the price of cough syrup was $.25 an ounce for generic last time I bought from the bargain bins at WallyWorld.

Now North of $3 an ounce!

I've had a cough 3 months now, might be cheaper to treat it with cremation...

Cremation is certainly a more permanent fix for the cough!

Time to ask your doctor. Do you have seasonal allergies?

Is the cough brought on by exercise?

Nope, maybe tomorrow I'll know more, have a referral to see an ENT.

Yes see a doctor. A cough suppressor can be made by adding one teaspoon of Marjoram spice and one tea spoon of cinnamon to a cup of boiling water, let it steep for about 30 minutes, strain it and then drink a little.

It is possible that you need to make the cough "productive" instead of suppresssing it.

If it's a dry cough with chest congestion, try one or two Mucinex 1200 mg pills each day for a few days. April's juniper pollen wrought hL on my breathing and sleep. Sometime in early May, I started taking one Mucinex 12-hr pill a day, usually in mid or late afternoon. My sinuses were still congested, but not as badly, and the chest congestion and unproductive cough cleared out. Drink plenty of water throughout the day also.

So, went, got checked, have cough, get irritation, makes me cough. Yeah, knew that.

Waiting on meds. Gonna throw in air cleaner and maybe a humidifier into the mix.

Still suspect cremation might be cheaper...

A fifth of whiskey
A fifth of vermouth
A fifth of gin
A fifth of rum
and a beer chaser should just about do it.

Take care, Bernie.

Any mold in the house? That will cause it too. Ask your doctor if cremation or spontaneous human combustion is right for you.

You have probably already looked it up but here is some information on Malassezia that might be useful.  Essentially a yeast that causes only skin/hair infection in humans and pets so unlikely to have anything to do with your cough.
