I recently bought a Umarex Komplete .22 and installed a 3-9x-40 scope and laser aligned to get on paper. Set up a target at 40 yds and was shooting RWS 14.5 grn pointed pellets. The target was approximately 16 inches square and sectioned into 4 areas with a 1-inch circle in each section, each surrounded by a 2.25-inch circle. There was no telling where the first 30 rounds were going, so I couldn't get even a semblance of a group on the target for scope alignment. It was very frustrating; I was about to return this for something else but decided to try one more magazine of 10. All of a sudden, shots 31 thru 40 all grouped nicely in about 1-1/4 inch circle, and I was able to align the scope. This seems weird that the first 30 shots went everywhere, then everything seems to have "settled in." Is there something I'm missing in this picture?

Watching.

That is interesting to say the least, although I admit I have no explanation. Keep shooting it, if the POI radically changes again then you know the scope has problems. Let us know how you make out..

Did you clean the bore before shooting it?
Was there’s any wind?

I did not clean the bore prior to shooting; didn't know I had to(?). I inspected the bore, and it looked clean and unobstructed. The scope I know is good. Monday I have some other pellets coming and will set up for more shooting. I will also set up my chronograph to get some velocity readings. There was an occasional very light breeze but I spaced my shots accordingly, and it wasn't any different from shots 1 to 30 or from shots 31 to40. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for your comments.

My guess is that you had a metal burr or piece of trash somewhere. Most likely around the crown that cleared itself up. Just my wild arse guess.

I could actually see some of the pellets spiral wildly to the target; a very interesting introduction to air rifle shooting! Monday should tell me more.

Anytime accuracy is bad cleaning the barrel is one of the first things I do. Next might be to bust out the chronograph.

I have a suspicion the regulator had to settle in. I may have to get me one of them rifles and see what makes them tick ;)

Could be so many things!
For myself, I adjust to holding a new gun without even realizing it until later. I kinda start out holding it one way and gradually evolve into something that works if the gun is accurate and I'm a good fit for it.
