Title: I have joined the club, HW30s (Synthetic)
Post by: triggerfest on May 16, 2025, 04:21:48 PM
After many, many years of airgunning, I have now officially and finally joined the HW30s club.

It's my 4th Weihrauch. Owning 2x the HW97k (standard wood stock + black synthetic stock) and 1x the HW50s. I have never ever thought buying the HW30s (I am quite tall), but I could buy this in mint condition classified HW30s Synthetic in .177 caliber. For 175 EUR or 195 USD.

The original owner told me, he did had not fired over 10 pellets with it and I believe him. The manufacturing year is 2024, according to Weihrauch.

My plan was, and I say was, to immediately order a custom stock for it. But... I actually like the synthetic stock soo much, that I will keep it for now at least. Or heck, maybe buy a second one that does get the custom stock (if someone wants to get rid off a custom stock, preferably a laminate one...).

The pellet choice..., was right spot on with my first try after cleaning the barrel: the JSB Exact RS 7.33 grain.

So yes, I understand the hype now, the HW30s is REALLY the airgun that every airgun enthusiast should own.

I always feel like my HW30s is designed for someone much smaller than me.   I'm also quite tall.    I've been thinking that I should get the HW 50.    How do the HW30 and 50 compare?

Yes I'm like 6'-5" but probably shrinking in my old age.  My arms are pretty long and sometimes rifles or shotguns feel like they are 7/8 sized.    I believe the the HW50 has a longer pull than the HW30.  I've never had the chance to check one out.   I'm hoping that there's a tall person here who has both.

 I'm short (6') , I find both the 30 and 50 reasonably comfy.  ;D

 LOP measurements on my examples:

 HW30 13 - 15/16"

 HW50 14 - 5/8"

Now I'm wondering if 11/16 will make a significant difference.

 OAL of both:

 HW30 38.78"
 HW50 40.5"

The size specs on paper aren't all that different. The HW30 does feel more compact and like a youth gun for me.
I like it, it's super handy and compact. Maybe you could find a 50 somewhere to test out?

How do the HW30 and 50 compare?

Actually quite similar. The HW50 is slightly heavier.

But to be honest, if I would close my eyes and you would either put the HW30 or the HW50 in my hands, I could not tell you the difference at the moment... I am quite fine with the ergonomics of both. If you still feel concerned about that, skip the HW50 please and consider the HW95 instead.

I joined last year.  I shouldn't have waited.

Mine is as it left the factory but buzz free, and making over 8fpe (.177) smoothly and accurately.
I even warmed up to the current-style undercut stock once I had it in my hands - it truly feels great.

Then, I had to have a 50.....     also a winner!
