Title: .30 caliber on the mod125 series springer
Post by: Deadrise Skiff on May 05, 2025, 09:22:43 PM
I have read on here before a question of if the mod125 could shoot .30 cal
or even if the barrel would fit.
I bought a reurb .177 mod 125 years back it was a springer.
I had also bought when they first came out the 135 vortex .30 cal
Well the vortex ram was dead on arrival, so I swapped the barrels and had a mod125 .30 cal.
No fitting issues at all. The first run of .30 135 vortex were only claiming 550 fps.
In recent years they have upped the claim to like 590-600fps.
But, back to my mod 125 .30- it was shooting at 560fps with the 44.75 grn.
So, yes the smaller 125 can do it, and a metal spring can do it.
Gun started life as a .177 and became a .30  8)

Good to know.
I've swapped the barrels for a .25 cal 135 and .30cal 130.
For whatever reason, the powerplant on the 135 was not transmitting the full energy of the piston to the pellet.
I'd rather have an up to speed .25 than a .30. Hence, the swap.
Ron rebuilt the pistons for both the guns. So its not a matter of the pistons being out of gas.
I've done the tissue test and all that. I can't figure it out.
Its so nice having a properly functioning .25 cal. I'm ready for woodchucks now.
I also swapped the stocks since I like the 130 stock better.
The .30 cal literally is nothing more than shelf decoration since I had refinished the stock.
Those pics are in another thread/gate.
