Title: Busted moderator? I hate when that happens... [2025-05-01]
Post by: GTA-Airgunner on May 01, 2025, 04:23:31 PM
Good afternoon Airgunners!  Thank you for being part of the GTA!

So, I have a moderator here on the table that I'll be rebuilding later today (video coming soon).  One of the benefits of getting a "commercial" moderator, this one is a .30 cal OdB from Airguns of Arizona, is that it can often be rebuilt if there's an issue.  I generally like to run a size larger just so that I have some margin of error to work with and this is why. I put this on a .30 cal Gauntlet, and the pellets were clipping badly. The internal rings were hit, and the front cap was damaged.  I've got the parts in-house now (thanks to AOA) and will create a video on how to rebuild it.  I really like their mods and was pretty bummed when I bricked this one.  I'm very happy they have the parts to make them work again when things like this happen.

What are your favorite moderators, and do you all have issues with clipping and accuracy?  How do you address it when it comes up?  What guns have you all added moderators to, and when is an airgun "quiet enough?"  I'd love to get your feedback!

On another note, I was hoping to get to the range today, but I need to complete billing and send invoices to my IT clients.  The weather is looking pretty bad for the rest of the week, so I may not get back to the range until next week.

Until tomorrow, thank you for being part of the GTA!

Cheers
Rick

Good afternoon, Rick.
I have been using one of David's (Rocker1) moderators for several years.  It is a high quality piece of work and super quiet.  A big plus is that David is great to deal with too.
