Title: Mod 25 in for Repairs
Post by: Back_Roads on April 28, 2025, 10:07:09 PM
I just took in this Daisy 25 in need of some TLC, I noticed th typical rear stock warpage, either from hot sun or heat sorce, or chemical reaction such as bug spray etc.
I will have to search the data base for year of Mfg.

Found Mfg date November 1974  LOL that was about my guess talking to the customer over the phone, IIR I was thinking 72 or 73, I was really into BB guns back then ;)

Certainly Brings back Memories on my part

If I recall right, you had to unscrew the BB magazine from the end of the Barrel
used to upset me when having to reload LOL

That's really neat. I've got one of the newer 25's, which is pretty decent apart from the plastic trigger/safety thing...

Is the old warped plastic repairable? I've always wondered about that when perusing vintage Daisys on fleabay.

Good luck on that project, James. I enjoy shooting my newish Model 25.

This is another of "those" topics--is it most appropriate in Daisy or BB Guns or Vintage? ARGH.

If it's vintage it's vintage and should go in the vintage gate if it's about the gun and the OP desires.

If it's about shooting bbs with bb guns it should go in the BB Guns and such gate. At least that's what it was about when the request for a BB Gun gate came about.

It's one of those "you can't please everyone" things.

Well the gun will be fixed and the owner plans to shoot it regularly. I will shoot a few BBs over the crony when finished ???
Then this bb gun has not changed too much in ages ;)
TBH I did not know date of MFG until I was done posting.

Well this repair is going to be close in cost to a new gun  :o , I found the mainspring guide was bent, my attempt to straighten failed under use. My theory is someone took the gun apart, lost the trigger spring, when the gun would not latch when cocked they tried harder and bent the parts a wee bit.
You can see the bent area under the plastic parts bag.

So of to Ebay I went, I was lucky to find the part in short order.  8)  ;D I get  few extra parts for it, but it is what I need and will have a few parts for inventory when done.

Growing up in 1950s Baltimore, when we needed a bit more power, we took the spring out and stretched it as much as we could.
We got about 15-20 magnum, squirrel killing shots before we had to stretch again.

Well USPS wet me off, and SWMBO, as she paid for 3 day delivery on some items that just arrived today 13 days late  :o
The Daisy parts made it here Friday so today I got them cleaned up and swapped over. Tomorrow put it all back together with new / and used parts, hope it shoots ;)
