Title: Re-cutting laser or CNC-engraved checkering on a HW35E
Post by: happymecanic on April 25, 2025, 03:22:25 PM
While the first coat of oil was curing on my other rifle, I tried my hand at re-cutting the factory laser or CNC-engraved (don't know) checkering on my walnut stocked Weihrauch HW35E. It didn't take too long, and I could rely on the factory tracing to cut over, which is 20 LPI. Walnut is much easier to work than birch, I'm very pleased with the results. The only issue is that the wood under the checkering is so nice I now want to refinish the entire stock ;D .

That looks to be a very neat job. What tool did you use?
