Title: 1st Red of the year
Post by: dk1677 on April 22, 2025, 11:36:32 AM
Last fall was the last red I took ( total about 25) I had spotted this guy around for awhile but he was always on the move or off my property but this morning he was digging buy some shrubs. I took the 850 with RWS SHP's  and hit a little further back than ideal behind the ear but it did the job at 30yds.                                                                                                                                                                                                      (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54467697837_8c0e3e92bd_k.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/2qZ8bWz)Red42225 (https://flic.kr/p/2qZ8bWz) by David (https://www.flickr.com/photos/150676152@N05/), on Flickr

Good shooting, nice pic  :)

I have a ton of them on my property up in the Catskill Mountains but they are so elusive I hardly ever get a shot at them.  To bad too cause the very first one I ever got I skinned it and fried it up just to see how they'd taste and found out they were terrific  :)

Dave , nice shooting on that red devil! I have one scurrying back & forth through my place to the neighbors most days. They are "game" (all squirrel) here in PA .
Out of season now. BUT, like most any small critters, IF they are causing damage , a property owner may "take steps" to counteract such damage ( after
 consulting w/WCO's).

Dave, I always enjoy your posts of hunting success.  I hope you get more of them this year.
I sure wish there were some of those little squirrels around here.  ???

Nice shooting Dave!  It sounds like you have almost rid the neighborhood of those red devils.
