It was “Wild Card” weekend, I needed a distraction from football. Wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, just kinda browsing and thinking “I really need to thin the herd”, spend more time with the guns I have, narrow my focus, let go of some projects that have just been going nowhere fast.
I was getting myself into a funk when I spotted an auction title that simply read “Sheridan Air Rifle” The opening bid was .01 I didn’t have my xtra eyes on, don’t need them to watch football, and opened the link to give it a look see.
My heart rate rose, I think faster than the kids at my sons graduation party when the ice cream truck we hired pulled in, there was a “Buy It Now” option, I hit that button hard and fast and would deal with the fallout later. After I had committed myself a kind of disbelief set in, like that shot that downed my 1rst deer. I needed my glasses! How many 0’s were in that price? Is there a description? Any more pictures?
Though it took over 30 days from purchase to my door, I have claimed my trophy and can confirm there are still deals out there to be found.

Wow.
Congrats!
Cheers,
J~

Wowza! You lucked out and that’s a cool early number. So glad a member got it.

Look at calendar, hmm, it's not April Fools Day. So I'd say you got a pretty good deal. Looks to be in great shape too. Why the 30 days to get it to you?

My first message to the seller was concerning packaging and shipment, I even offered to pay xtra to ensure there would no issues in transit. I didn’t want to seem too excited, but the couple weeks it took to get a shipping amount was brutal (well worth it though. Uhaul box was 12x12x40. rifle was wrapped in 2 rolls of bubble wrap and any other voids inside were filled with packing peanuts). Then of course sent USPS Money Order, so another 5-6 days, and lastly it arrived local distribution center on the 13th and just sat there till yesterday ??
I had to adjust the bolt so it doesn’t rest on the stock when closed and am cleaning up some of the storage crusties that have accumulated. I will get better pictures soon.

Wow. Deals do still float down the bay!

Congratulations on a serendipitous find! Let us know how you like shooting it after prepping to your satisfaction.

I just looked this number up on UJ’s registry and it’s on there. Now I’m really curious about its history.

OH YOU $#@*^%.... CONGRATS!

That was on my to do list.
Rifle has been well cared for and doesn’t appear to have been used in quite some time. Operating the pump was more difficult than I expected. Pump needed to be lubed but let out a small “psssst” as the cup passed the air hole. 2 drops of lube on the felt and 1 in the breath hole and each pivot point.
Exercised the pump to distribute the lubricant. Hammer spring is strong and bleeds the valve with only 1 pump but is holding with 2. Will see if it holds overnite 🤞

Wow! What a catch!

I wondered if it would pump up and hold air. What a great mystery you have to enjoy. Thanks for sharing.

This certainly was an amazing score.
I'm not personally in the market for a model A, but would definitely be tempted.

CONGRATULATIONS !!

Finally... someone gets one at a reasonable price. ;D

There was just a wee bit of air remaining this morning. Hopefully my pump lube (blended 3:1 non detergent 30W + ATF will rejuvenate the seals) Couple shots over the chrony with 13.73 JSBs + 5pumps was roughly 570 fps but erratic (560, 569 577, 566, 571). I think it’ll settle down with a bit more exercise and has been holding 1 pump for the duration of the photo shoot.
Tried to capture evidence of previous efforts to keep this gem looking and shooting good. Nothing that I think needs to be redone immediately, including evidence of screw removal, orange peel in stock finish, and top screw of butt pad after I cleaned lite rust that was forming.

Bill,
this is now officially the most I have spent on any Sheridan to date, not counting the taxes and shipping, even though they also were correspondingly more.
Let the hunt for a B Sporter begin

I hope you find just as good of a deal on a B.

This is the 1rst Super-Grade I have ever seen in the flesh. Looked at plenty of pictures and read enough to know I wanted to experience one for myself.
I figured the hype couldn’t be just because so few were made. Some have said, even looking at photos, it really doesn’t appear a whole lot different than the Model C or perhaps more correctly the C doesn’t look much different that the A. Like a father and son, the similarities are obvious.
If you ever get a chance to hold one, or are in the area and would like to, send me a PM.
The first thing I noticed is the weight. The Supergrade is a full pound heavier! So … “Where’s the beef?!”
Check out this photo. I don’t ever recall seeing the A and C side by side like this before.

Wow. Big difference. Got my mouth watering for the beef.
He's got the meats!
