Title: My Mom the enabler..
Post by: Hoosier Daddy on January 25, 2025, 02:47:40 PM
I am 62... My Mother is 20 years older.
She is always sending me car deals she finds for me to drool over from our past.

Today was this with the message
"Maybe we can pool our money?"

JEEZUS WOMAN! Act your age... ;)
BUT I am intrigued to say the least  LOL!!!

Scott
Mom is always right
You should buy the car

Besides you can always use the excuse “my Mom made me do it”

Hope this helps

Dave

When I was young Mom had a green '65 mustang... Dad had a white '66 with a 4-speed Hi-po 289.
Mom then traded hers in for  a used '64 T-bird.
My 1st car was a poppy red  '65 mustang.
Grand Dad had a Galaxy 500
I get these from her all the time.

I have a similar “problem” with my mom.  Of course I didn’t mind driving her 2003 Land Rover Discovery for five years. ;D

Over the years mom has had an MG DT, a Fiat, an Audi Quattro and now a Subaru Forester.  She started talking about buying another Jeep to the memsahib recently and asked her if we would like to have a Jeep.

Love my mom! :D

Lucky guy.   Your cool mom is still alive and interested in cool cars.    At least she's not sending you brochures of mobility scooters.

And then there's the 1969 VW bug that a neighbor bought a few months ago because he had "always wanted one." That old-age crisis dredges up some real heaps, along with the beautiful, minty drool inducers.

I call his The Stink Beetle because it trails a long-lasting stench of something that needs engine or fuel system repair. No visible smoke, not a burning smell, but man the thing REEKS.

I haven't smelled such a stinker since I made my husband get rid of the used 1948 Graveley snow pusher he once bought. That one left stains and puddles, with fumes so bad I figured it was likely to result in the garage bursting into flames with a tiny errant spark of any kind.

Scott, at least your mom wants the better dinosaurs! I've seen some jawdroppers around here that looked, sounded, and ran like new, and NO FUMES OR SMOKE.

She also sends me pics of every Indian motorcycle she sees.
As far back as I can remember, she has told me repeatedly... "Only Hoodlum's ride Harleys".
I think it was a '50's rivalry thing.  ;)

She was a rebel in her youth...
Told me she saw Jerry Lee Lewis live at "Buck Lake Ranch" and he rocked the piano so hard it literally folded the legs and fell off the stage.

Quote
Buck Lake Ranch in Angola, Indiana is a former music venue and campground that opened in 1947. It was founded on 80 acres of farmland and timber. The ranch is known as the "Nashville of the North".

She and her girl friends pulled along side Elvis's tour bus on the road, hanging out the windows and consequently drove several "on coming cars" off the road.  :o

I was just thinking about my vintage car which hasn't been driven in decades after passing a billboard for a gas station.

It said unleaded ... I doubt you can still buy leaded any more, much less 100+ octane. Not only that, but I can't recall the last time seeing octane booster on the shelf.

I used to work at a local airport... 100 octane "Av-gas" was on tap.
Bet it still is today.

Leaded gas was on its way out when I got to driving age. I've used that 104 and it's decent. I think guys can buy racing fuel but it's big dollars it's above 100 octain. Your very blessed Scott. Your mom sounds like she was a real hoot in her youth.

She still is.  ;D
About 5 years ago she got a "Bacardi Bat" tattoo on her ankle.
Because...
She is self proclaimed, the "Old Bat"!
