Sure looks like a Talon except for the safety switch above the trigger.
Also $279 and maybe another 15% if you sign up.

Looks to be a step above, seems 3600 psi fill and regulated :o ???

Or they are using chinese high flow valves. Supposedly will handle upto 4500psi. Need a bigger hammer though.

Not a chance. The regular AF rifles are fine. Why give the chinses more money ?

Turns out they are rebadged Snowpeak

M25 rifle
I don't think I have ever noticed the M18 before now.

That's what 97 % people(so called airgunners) do on this forum.
-
The specs say 1000 yard effective range?
Now I want to hear their definition of "effective"
-
Strange, almost every recent post has it.
-
Interesting website and their prices go up against the Notos. Will be paying attention... ;)

With the discount for email sign up and a $20 bonus for using 6 month finance from PayPal mine was $238 shipped and is a arriving Monday. I'll put up some pictures and share my thoughts if anyone is interested.

Cool, thanks for taking one for the team ;)

I figure the parts on that gun I can't make even if it's junk are worth the $238 to build something from.
-
Their highest power rifle hits at 50 FPE according to their YouTube videos. Their bullpup is at 40 FPE. But they also weigh around half of what an AEA Challenger does, and their side lever on their bullpup is in a great location over the trigger and the magazine goes at the far end of the stock so the rifle is only about 28 inches. It's like they took AEA's Challenger bullpup and long stock rifles and slimmed them down and shortened them. At their price point I think I am going to pick up the bullpup .22

That is a great price point! I'll be keeping an eye on reviews/feedbacks of this bullpup.

The Bullpup seems to closely resemble the Snowpeak P35 (maybe minus the regulator?) I owned a P15 (non regulated) in the past and never should have sold that one. After signing up, I have one in my cart for $238.00 . Seems like a great "pre-tariff" price... ;D
-
Opppps...I did not own a P15, it was a P12, unregulated: still miss that gun. Went ahead and ordered the Pinty Bullpup in .22 cal.

What was the shipping cost?
-
Just ordered the .22 bullpup. Free shipping. Make an account and use promo code WINHUNT and total with Texas tax included came out to $254.07 for me.
-
Yes, shipping was free. I placed the order earlier today and have already received a shipping confirmation with tracking number. Will check back in when I get an expected delivery date.
Just an FYI, I did send Pinty Support an email question yesterday, and while they did not properly answer the question, they did get back to me via email within 12 hours. I suspect they have a lot to learn about airguns... ;)

I get mine Monday. I'll post when it comes in. I was told February ship date when I did my pre-order so I'm super stoked it's a week ahead of schedule. Flawless purchase and shipping so far. As long as it's even halfway decent it's a win at that cost.

They may share some parts, but there are a lot of structural differences between a Snowpeak P15 and a Pinty bullpup. The side lever is different and in a different location, so the frame and receiver are different. Also the shroud, stock, and rails are different than a P15. The barrel, air tube, hammer, valve and trigger may be the same.

I agree Jared, I still think it resembles the P35 more than the P15. The long rifle version does indeed look like the M16 that I owned for several years.

I got a shipping email, but so far just a UPS label has been printed and no ETA on it.

It does more closely resemble the P35, though the side lever is an inch or so further forward than the P35, and the P35 receiver has that same weird notch in it that the P15 has and it is slanted at the top front of the receiver. The specs on the P35 do match the specs listed on the Pinty website as well. I am looking forward to getting 80 shots out of a rifle. Closest thing I have to that now is my Umarex Origin and that shoots only a fraction of that. If it is a modified P35 it might have what the P35 website calls a "consistent valve" - perhaps a regulator? The P35 is supposed to be highly accurate too. An accurate, maybe regulated, 900 fps 80 shot .22 bullpup for $250 shipped? I will be thoroughly impressed if it all adds up when I have it in my hands. I also picked up a Pinty 3-9x40 scope from their eBay store.

Yesterday I sent an email to Pinty:
Hi,
I recently ordered one of your .22 bullpup PCP rifles. While I am
waiting for it to arrive I had a question regarding it. Would this be a
rebadged/modified SMK/SnowPeak/Artemis P35? I was wanting to get some
accessories for it and spare parts so I thought I would ask.
The reply I just got:
Thank you for reaching out and we are honored to be of assistance.
We have forwarded your request to our tech team for the best possible answer and will reply to you within 24-48 hours.
Your understanding and patience are much appreciated.
Have a lovely day!

Interesting!!! Some folks have noted that the Snowpeak P35 is a copy of another rifle, and I guess another company could do a copy of the Snowpeak P35...(haha) I have been looking at accessories for the P35 and now wonder if they will fit, time will tell. UPS is still showing mine will arrive tomorrow.

We've already discovered the barrel on the Snowpeak M18 clone is not compatible with the Airforce LW barrels. Different length of the narrow end where the hammer and block slide.
Haven't compared to the M18, have to find one.
Not me, I haven't ordered one, yet...

It has arrived
Looks sweet!
First impression?
-
Added the Pinty scope to it
First impression was ""dang" it's light!" Compared to my Challenger or Sumatra this thing weighs nothing. I think it's like 5 1/2 pounds soaking wet
2nd impression: it has a spring loaded self closing fill port cover! Nice touch! Filling it now. They also include a ton of o-rings and a little tub of silicone grease. Again, nice touch
-
Looks sweet, mine will be here tomorrow. Is the scope rail metallic, and for the record, is it regulated? ;D
-

Scope rail seems to be the same metal as the whole rail assembly. No 2nd pressure gauge, but according to the manual there is a regulator. attaching specs page from manual now. I fired a mag through it. It is easily as quiet or quieter than my Umarex Origin. Maybe slightly louder than my Diana Bandit .22 PCP pistol . Maybe equal.
-
Excellent, thanks for the update. How did the trigger feel?
-
I liked the trigger, feels better than my Sumatra's. I did find the gun is also called the QM-23, By Defensor (Forever) and there are a lot of Youtube reviews of it, but they are all in Spanish so you have to use the translate feature in them. The gun is popular in places like South America.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRZTJXBtVYY
Someone in the comments on the video above asked the guy reviewing the gun if it was a P15 with the lever moved forward and some other improvements and the reviewer answered that it was.
-
Very interesting indeed. Maybe parts are more widely available... BTW, my Samatra had a very heavy trigger, unlike my .30 cal AEA Challenger, which had a nice trigger out of the box.
-
I put a chrony on the gun a minute ago. I am using standard 14.3 Crosman Premier HPs, and I am getting consistent 275-276 m/s for 902-905 fps for more than 100 fps above the specs. I'm happy with it.
The 3rd mag I put in, after a shot or two the trigger was hard like it wasn't cocked right or something. Made me check the lever to make sure it was closed all the way. Then it went back to normal. Happened a couple of times. I am guessing the thing needs polishing and lubing like they always do. On the whole though it shoots very nice except I have to get used to how quiet it is. I will have to put a DIY brush depinger in there though. Quiet as it is there is a bit of ping to it.
Another reviewer in Spanish says the gun has the same spring loaded fill port as the P35, same lever action as the P35, but better airflow and better "everything".
I would post that video here but it was one of a rabbit hunt with the Pinty and that might not be cool in this section.
-
I saw on a video from Chile another rifle almost exactly like the Defensor QM-23/Pinty bullpup but it was a Defensor QM-22 and it has the side lever all the way in the rear. Otherwise it is the same as far as stock, rail, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPpjkf3s69c
One final thing I noticed about the rifle in my hand - on the serial number on the side of the buttstock it reads QM23CEBB0098, so it's the 98th made and is indeed a QM23 as shown in the specs of the manual. Nowhere on the gun is the name "Pinty" or any other manufacturer name, and every website or video with a QM23 air rifle seems to be coming from Chile.
-
You're really selling me on this bullpup, Jared!
-
Found the problem with the trigger - it is easy to push in the safety on the trigger slightly, which catches it against a little raised projection on the trigger guard that acts as the trigger stopping safety when it is all the way pressed. I was just looking at the trigger and duplicated my "hard as *(&^ trigger" in exactly that way, not even noticing the way the safety liked to move partially in to the on position when I held my finger on the trigger a certain way. The safety rod is actually built into the trigger, instead of being located somewhere else.

The safety and the fill port are the same as the MrodAir P12 I owned several years ago. These guns have some SPA/Snowpeak DNA in them for sure. I suspect that many of the aftermarket items that are available for the P15/P35 will work with these as well, maybe even the Huma regs.
Once mine arrives today I will experiment with the hammer spring adjustment just to see what can be done. My P12 (not regulated) was able to shoot up to 40 ft lbs with some minor tweeking. My goal with the Pinty is not max power (My Airforce and AEA guns have that; I need a yard gun) but would love to see 18 gn pellets at 800 fps or so.
-
Just noticed that Pinty's website has been updated and they are now calling this rifle the PCP-QM23.
-
This video shows a tear down of the QM-23. While looks can be decieiving, this video makes the rifle look pretty well made!!

I'm waiting to see what you think when yours gets there. I shot a few mags through mine and am happy right out of the box with how it shoots. I put up a bench rest to work on sighting in my Sumatra 2500 yesterday and while I had it up I shot the QM-23 as well. It easily out shot the Sumatra as far as accuracy, but I think that is due to how powerful the Sumatra is. I had just put a power tune valve/hammer kit in the Sumatra and didn't realize until today when I slapped a chrony on it that the Sumatra is shooting at 1280 fps with those 14.3 gr Crosman HPs and at that speed they are not great for being accurate, so I will have to cast some more 21 grain .22 slugs to try in both rifles.
-
The Brown Truck always runs late when you are waiting on a new toy :'(
That Sumatra is really poking them out there. 21 gn might not be heavy enough to get under the sound barrier.
I suspect that the Bullpup will probably shoot 18 gn pellets at close to 800 fps right out of the box, but that may depend on where the Hammer Spring adjuster is set from the factory. As a yard gun, I plan to use Apolo 18 gn pellets as the goto unless the gun doesn't like them. I had a Notos that did like them and shot them about 745 fps. Deadly on raiding squirrels at up to 35 yards or so. I will crank it all the way up just to see what it will do, but will bring it back down for the long term.

would be nice to have your next video include the regulator adjustment and tool used to set the regulator

And mine arrived today, what a long afternoon at work :) LOL Sp far it works, doing a quick leak test ATM.

I just cast 252 slugs to try out tomorrow. They are 23.4 grain. I will put some through the QM-23 and Sumatra to see what sort of speed and accuracy they get with heavier projectiles.
-
And mine arrived today, what a long afternoon at work :) LOL Sp far it works, doing a quick leak test ATM.
I did some crony work, reg at 13.5 mpa, took a few shots to settle in, after initial fill. Second fill showed no creep, and velocities were between 875 and 880, with 17.6 gr. Norma's, single 3/8 inch hole at 10m after 50 shots.
-
Unfortunately the driver of my UPS truck got sick and the fill in driver did not make it to my place until about 8pm last night. The good news is the box was pristine when I received it and so was the rifle. My initial thoughts after opening the bullpup match Jareds, it feels very light, especially when shouldered. This first thing I noticed when opening the box was a sticker which stated that the rifle was made in China. Nothing else gave any indication of what company in China made it.
The manual (reminds me of a Crosman manual :D) states that the rifle is a QM23 and velocity is rated at 830 fps. Regulator:YES; Trigger: adjustable; 80 shots per max fill (no pellet specified) and a weight of 5.75 lbs. Rifle comes with 2 magazines, fill probe, a number of assorted O-rings, and a small tub of silicon grease. The only plastic on the gun is the cheek rest, everything else is wood and metal. Hammer spring adjustment is accessable without having to remove the stock, and I confirmed that the gun can be de-cocked, safety is manual. Overall fit and finish seem quite good for a rifle in this price range.
Can't really comment on the trigger yet, only used it to see if the gun could be de-cocked. The hammer spring adjustment was backed all the way out from the factory so I am sure there is room to do some velocity adjustments. My 3000 psi buddy tank will be used to initially air up the rifle, then my compressor will complete the fill after I detrmine that it is holding air. I have numerous pellets to try, and some Apolo 21 gn slugs. Starting tomorrow, the forcast calls for 6 days of rain, so this could take a while...
Magazines are indexed so that the bolt will not close after the last pellet is fired. These mags have a different shape than the P15/P35 mags so not sure if those mags will fit this rifle?
-
Had trouble getting the valve to initially seal, even with gun cocked. Got past that with my tank and gun holding air now. With a low fill at 2000 psi or so, shot three 18 gn pellets over the chrony and got 860-861-861 with the hammer spring adjuster flush, so I am sure it can get up to 880 or so with 18 gn. Should make a great yard gun!!! Trigger seemed pretty light, maybe three lbs, maybe less. I did notice the same issue Jared reported that the safety can still catch when pushed to the fully off position. Will have to take a rat tail file to the nub that the safety catches and open the gap just a bit. Shot cycle seems crisp, and I did not notice a ping that Jared mentioned. More to come...
-
Great info, guys!
-
Just some initial chrony numbers with various pellets. My rifle may be shooting a little hotter that Jareds, could be that the reg on mine is set a little higher. These numbers are three shots for each pellet with a shot in between switching pellets.
Crosman Premier 14.3 - 924-926-924
JSB 15.89 - 910-911-912
Apolo 18 gn - 861-860-861
21 gn Baracuda - 818-827-829
Apolo 18 gn slugs - 796-794-806
All pellets and slugs easily fit the magazine and fed smoothly. Again, the shot cycle on my rifle is crisp (with no ping), and the trigger is nice enough that I will probably not do any adjustments. Loudness is backyard friendly (subjective of course). Cocking cycle is smooth, and I feel sure, will get better with more break in.
To say that I am impressed, for the price, would be an understatement. Of course accuracy has not been tested yet, but everything else so far has exceeded my expectations. ;D ;D ;D
-
Edit: the Apolo slugs are 21 gn, not 18 gn.
-

I had no issue with my rails, but I am using a Pinty scope on it. Suposedly they are 20mm Picatinny. Here is what I am using
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019Q7H1IQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019Q7H1IQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1)
Shooting the 23.4 grain slugs I cast yesterday I get an average of 221 m/s or 725 fps for 27.32 foot pounds from the bullpup. The Sumatra with those slugs, on the other hand, is smoking at 1171 fps and 71 foot pounds. By shot 6 though it had dropped to 1125 fps and 65 foot pounds.
-
I made a quick video of the bolt issue. :-\

-
My rail measures 19.6mm and none of the 10 or 12 sets of rings I have will fit, seems the rail is not wide enough... :-\

I tried 3 different ring sets, and a riser mount no fitment issues here ??? hmmm.
-
The manual says the rail should be 22mm, but mine does not measure anywhere close to that. I suspect a manufacturing tolerance issue and no one caught it... :'(
Going to see if I can find another rail online to replace this one.
-

I recall reading that Weaver are slightly smaller than picatinny rails. Perhaps try ordering a few sets of rings that specifies Weaver compatibility from Amazon. Return them if it doesn't work.
Here's one I came across...

Strange. Only rails I know of close to that is the Eastern European 19.5mm dovetail.
-
Well I did a little fun shooting with mine, bad score is all me not the trigger or pellets, though one pellet looked suspicious LOL
(https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/gallery/17377-080225165542.jpeg)
-
Nice shooting! I figured I might be losing some power since I didn't check my slug size and they may be a hair too thin. So I go to pull out my sizing dies and swage press to make sure I get a good fit and dang if I can't remember where I put them the last time I used them which I admit was a couple of years ago. I know they are in my little workshop but... so I am in the process of tidying that place up...more or less
-
Well, I have now confirmed that the rail on my rifle is a Weaver compatible rail, but not Picatinny. Weaver brand name rings will work, but Picatinny rings will not. I have many sets of Picatinny rings but did not have any Weaver rings until today.
-
Good news! At least it isn't some strange proprietary size. Still, it shouldn't be hard to change out for Picatinny if you want.

Jared, I noticed that the scope you put on your rifle (per the link you sent) specifically says that the rings will fit 20mm Weaver and 20mm Picatinny rail. Per the research I have been doing, Weaver rings will fit a Picatinny rail, but Picatinny rings will not fit a Weaver rail. I suspect that your rifle has a Weaver rail as well, but woud be interesting if you tried some Picatinny rings on your gun to see.
Anyhow, now that I have that sorted, I mounted a Hawke 4X scope on my rifle (not what I will use long term) and shot some groups at 16 yards (just inside my fence) I have not cleaned the barrel yet, just seasoning the rifle out of the box. It didn't seem to like the CPUM pellets that much, but the 18 gn Apolo pellets were shooting hole in hole. Rain is coming in for a few days so not sure if I will be able to shoot more until later in next week.
With what I shot today and yesterday, I have put close to 50 shots through the rifle on the first fill, that was only to 3000 psi. I have never owned an air rifle that could give me that many shots per fill...pretty nice!
-
Good news! At least it isn't some strange proprietary size. Still, it shouldn't be hard to change out for Picatinny if you want.
Looking at the rifle, that top rail is all one piece. (I assumed it migh be a bolt on rail on top of the mount) Unless we can find out who actually manufactures the rifle or Pinty starts carrying parts, I don't think we can swap that rail. :-\ But good news is there are plenty of Weaver rings available, and I have ordered a short Picatinny riser that will come tomorrow to try as well. I plan to put my Sig Romeo 4 red dot on the rifle if that riser works out.
-
People have owned and shot this argun for weeks now.
What is the opinion on it?
Is it worth the $240/$250 price?
Does it need a lot of work to make it shoot well?
-
Hi John, I have only had my QM23 for two days, and Jared has had his for about a week. With any new gun it is a discovery process to see what works and what needs attention. There is not too much information out there about these guns yet, and every day I discover something new about mine. I published some chrony numbers yesterday, and just today sorted the issue with the scope rail, so only had a chance to shoot a small number of pellets for groups at a short 16 yard distance. I've owned many airguns, some well known at the time, and some that were brand new like this one and at this stage, I am calling this one a keeper. Would I buy it again at the same price...yes! It's a bit of a gamble of course, because who knows about longivity at this point or if parts will ever be available. I went through the same thing with the Notos when it was just released and it has become a huge hit, in somewhat the same price range.
So far I have not done anything to the rifle, it is just out of the box, and I am pretty happy with what I have seen. Could the trigger be better, sure, but it is not bad as it is.The action is pretty smooth and I have not had any feeding issues. My rifle does not make a ping noise in the shot cycle, which is crisp, but Jared said his does ping a bit.
I plan to make a small modification to the safety soon which will just require a very minor scraping with a file. Otherwise, my impressions so far is that the rifle is a great value for the $240/$250 I paid.
-
I'm keeping mine :) I went out to give it a go on my 50 yard range today, I got one shot off and hit the gong, then my buddy pulled in, and rather flap his lips than shoot a really cool airgun :( LOL
-
I have no issues with the cocking lever. My crown looks fine. It has held air with no issues and shoots great. Since Troy was able to change his barrel I am considering to buy another and install a .177 barrel. I think it is a good value for money spent.

Are you talking about the M18/Talon clone or the bullpup?

I am talking about the Airforce looking .22 Pinty rifle.

Over on AGN it has been dubbed the P-Force rifle :) Keeps it simple LOL

More communication with Pinty Support. I sent the email to them before I confirmed that Weaver rings will work with my Bullpup:
"I received my QM-23 and the manual says that the top scope rail should be a 22mm Picatinny Rail, but my rail measures 19.6mm and scope rings will not fit the rail. The rifle cannot be used without scope rings so I will need a replacement top rail or I will have to return the rifle for a refund. Please advise next steps."
Thanks… Stephen
This was the reply I received this morning:
"Thank you for contacting us.

They are trying ;D. More to come!

Maybe if you had sent your email to them in Spanish...

Not sure that 20 Pesos would go very far, even at Walmart...

Used this Picatinny riser to mount my Sig Romeo 4H optic on my QM23: (TACFUN 2PCS Flat TOP Half 1/2 INCH Mini Riser Block Mount 3 Slot Picatinny Rail (Amazon)) This riser bolted securely to my Weaver compatible rail and gave me a comfortable sight picture with the optic mounted. The Weaver scope rings I purchased for testing were one inch and the scope I want to mount on the rifle is 30mm so I need to order another set of rings.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but this afternoon, Nick was looking the P-Force over and made note of the Huben Cricket regulator, https://hubenpower.com/products/cricket.html a $120 dollar value !

I found a clip on air tank tube accessory picatinny rail 3D printer file set that perfectly matches my QM-23 on Cults3D for less than $4. I printed one out, spray painted it black, and it works great. The air tank tube on the QM-23 is 30mm. The file set contains 3 different types of rail: bottom only, sides only, or the one I printed which has all 3.

I found a tear down video the closed captions are in english, there are a few more out there too, and a sight in Spian IIR that has the full lineup of models but not in stock yet, but has ePV's of all the airguns. I will dig that up in a bit.

Defensor Forever appears to be the maker of the QM23. They are Chilean.

My box had "Made in China" all over it when it arrived?
-
This is the label on my box:
-
For those new owners of the QM23 Bullpup, I ordered this UTG case for mine and it just barely fits, but it does fit. (UTG 28" KIS Keep-It-Simple Gun Case, 600D Polyester, Black)
-
A thought just occured to me, I have a small Sig Romeo 5 red dot optic on my rifle, but adding a larger optic will prevent it from fitting in the UTG case that I mentioned above.
-
For those new owners of the QM23 Bullpup,
After some Pro's & Cons between the M18 Rail and QM23 Bullpup I'm considering being one for the Bullpup
both have good features (Considering Chinese Made) some I would like to see improved
IMO the M18 rail is lacking features as multiple shot magazine, 16" barrel, but here again the straight air flow eliminating the transfer port could account for this feature, liking the dual manometers, 350cc air bottle. carrying extra bottles on hunts (Product is Still in my watch list)
only feature that seems awkward to me is pushing forward on the bolt to set the trigger, but that's just me.
Again IMO Having 2 other Brand Bullpups, I see more Mod potential with this Bullpup to fool around with then the M18
NO discredit to owners of the M18, as to everyone's preference differs
Bill
-
Back_Roads, it says in the video above around 1:50 he says the stock can be "straightened" I wondered if that will help your alignment issue.. Now I have to buy some .22's
-
Thanks Brother !!!!!
-
Looks like several more folks have ordered the QM23, there should be a lot more information exchange on this rifle in the coming days! ;D
-
I just ordered the M18 with 20% off.
I have an Air Force Talon SS .20 with an additional .22 barrel.
So this M18 will be similar.
Hope it shoots as good. ( or at least OK )

So many threads on this .. Is it a Snow Peak M18 or not.. some posts say "NO!"
I am intrigued to say the least.

Quite possible it is manufactured by Snowpeak.
However, it is a clone of a Chilean company, Defensor Forever.
There are several video on YouTube in Spanish.

About 90% of all air guns, and everything else for that matter, are made in China. Air guns made somewhere else are the exception rather than the norm. It is single shot since it is a semi-clone of an Airforce rifle, and they are single shot guns

They are not branded by Artemis or Snowpeak though they are made in China of course. They appear to have started with an Artemis design and made a lot of modifications to it. Pinty is just the USA distributor, and Defensor Forever is the Chilean distributor. Which factory actually manufacturers them is an unknown at the moment, but I would guess it is the China Airrifle factory in Shaoxing, China since that is the factory where they make the Artemis/Snowpeak guns and they would already have the dies and other equipment on hand to make guns based off of those designs and those parts.
The bullpup seems to be loosely based on the Artemis P15 and P35 guns, the traditional stocked rifle based on the Artemis M16, and the single shot is of course based on an Airforce design but probably a modification of the Artemis Snowpeak M18. I say "based" meaning as far as superficial "looks" since there are many changes (and "upgrades") from all the original rifle designs. Some parts are no doubt exactly the same as the Snowpeak parts, but many others are not. The stocks, receiver, rails, cocking levers, magazines, etc, are different. The barrels, valves & hammers, and regulators seem the same.
-
I think the single shot is a Snowpeak M18 clone. The rifle is a Snowpeak M16 tube clone. Has a sidelever.
-
I think the single shot is a Snowpeak M18 clone.
I wouldn't call it a "clone". I think it is more of an evolution into a different model and I would almost bet money it is made in the same factory as the Artemis Snowpeak guns. Barrel, rail, stock, receiver, shroud, foregrip, etc all different. Hammer, valve and regulator may be the same.

Just using it to show origins.
The Snowpeak M18 has its origins in the AirForce Talon. This rifle has its origins in the M18.
The bullpup is a Defensor QM23. The QM23 has its origins in the Snowpeak P15/P35.
The rifle has its origins in the Snowpeak M16.
Just easier to write clone.
I'd say it is pretty clear which Chinese plant designed and built the Pinty rifles and what they used as a template.

Anyone know anything about the support available on these guns? Too soon?
-
Anyone know anything about the support available on these guns? Too soon?
Ricklin on AGN:
"My rifle is boxed and patiently waiting for Pinty to provide a label, They offered a shipping label for return or a 50 dollar discount on the rifle. "
-
I have had some back and forth with Pinty Support. They are there and do respond, but have very limited knowledge of the air rifles. Parts are not available through Pinty and so far, they have not offered up the name of the manufacturer. Like the Notos, these rifles are going to depend on GTA folks to dissect and dissseminate information about the rifles, and they do have great promise for the money spent. Some parts from existing Snowpeak guns may work with Pinty rifles, but my QM23 is not a direct clone of either the P15 or the P35 so some parts are unique to this rifle. If the guns become as widely available as the Notos, maybe the manufacturer will step up ( with a little help from our GTA friends).
-
Not sure if it's been mentioned but if you look under payment options there is a place to select more options. If you click on that there is the PayPal option for those of you who prefer to use PayPal.

The sky finally parted and let a little sunshine through this afternoon so I waded (we got 5.25 inches rain in the last three days) out to the fence line (16 yards) and set up another target. With the Sig Romeo 2 MOA red dot and 72 year old eyes I was still able to shoot one ragged hole with 10 shots from the QM23. All total I put four more mags through the rifle and the action has become quite smooth. The chrony still shows me shooting 861 fps with the Apolo 18 gn domes and the reg seems to be pretty happy. The wind has jumped up to 20-25 with higher gusts, so longer range shooting will not work this afternoon.
There is a fair amount of lateral play in the trigger and the safety has very little clearance, so the trigger tends to rub on the safety nub sometimes which causes errant shots. The trigger feels quite good when it doesn't rub, but it will need some work to mitigate that safety. Between chrony work and target shooting about 36 shots went down range and the birds in the vicinity never left the bird feeders, so my birds are calling the rifle "back yard friendly" at least at this power level.
I want to kick the power level up to 880 fps with the 18 gn pellets, but my chrony battery died so that will have to wait for the next round. I'm also running out of the Apolo 18 gn pellets so will have to order a couple more tins.
The QM23 feels rock solid, and once I get the safety issue sorted this one may become my favorite yard gun to date!
-
From the tear-down video I saw on the QM-23 it is a PITA to change the regulator setting since you have to disassemble the whole rifle to get to it. If one of the 2 large screw heads on the back of the receiver actually increase hammer spring tension that might up my fps a little bit, but I haven't tried that yet
-
The lower screw that you can get to with the stock on is the hammer spring adjuster. Screwing it in will increase your fps and backing it back out will decrease. Mine is still flush with the back from the factory as well but I will play with it once I get a new battery for the chrony. I was able to shim that hammer spring on my P12 with some small washers to get max power at 40 ft lbs with that bullpup.
I took the stock off and filed the safety nub down a bit, but it needs to go a bit farther to keep the trigger from rubbing that nub. While I had the stock off I checked tightness of any screws that I came across and most were fairly loose. I recommend checking all the screws holding the gun together to make sure they are snug. (just snug, not overly tight)
-
Looks like my QM23 is falling off the reg at right around 150 BAR. (at least on my gague give or take a smidge)
-

Steve @ 150bar pushing 2175.5psi should bring some slugs into play, have you tried any yet ?
Bill
-
Bill, I did shoot some 21gn Apolo slugs across the chrony and they shot about 800 fps. Have not tried them at range yet, but plan to do so very soon. More weather coming in tonight so may be another couple days before able to shoot outside again.
Played with the hammer spring adjuster a bit this afternoon on the QM23 and it didn't have much travel and made little difference in the velocity of the 18 gn pellets. Will wait and see if anyone else has any different results. I did finish filing the safety nub on my trigger and it made a significant difference now that the trigger blade/safety is not rubbing when the safety is off. The trigger is light and smooth now and I probably will not make any other changes to it as it breaks in more.
-
Bill, decided to try the 21 gn Apolo pellets at my 16 yard target and the results were inconsistant. Even though my Airforce Escape UL loves those slugs I am not too sure that the qM23 will do the same. Of course it doesn't mean that it won't shoot some other slugs better, just the Apolo slugs are the only .22cal slugs I have.
-
Sorry, Apolo slugs...
-
Have not had a chance to do any shooting outside at longer ranges, but did put my P-Force through the extreme winter testing all still functions even in cold air :) Tomorrow may be a balmy 30f for awhile so I am itching to get some lead laid on targets at 50 yards.
Might have to call the Bullpup the P-Bullpup, and the carbine the P-Carbine LOL
-
Sorry, Apolo slugs...
Thanks for the heads-up on slugs, with all my posts keep forgetting to ask do you know if it has a choked barrel ?

The bolt and I guess what I would call a transport seal on these style guns seal on moving oring seals. easier to show a animation :) My thought is the barrel bushings may need relocated to allow my barrel back about a quarter inch, so it is on the tophat before the wiggle happens.

Hey James does your single shot Pinty engage the safety every time you cock it like an Air Force Talon does?
-
For those with a P-FORCE you can make the cocking buttery smooth as I did . Very easy to do although all rifles may be slightly different. Remove the barrel assembly and spin barrel in a drill using very fine sand paper on loading side of barrel to smooth it. Barrel from factory has like record grooves in it. After polish smooth put silicone o ring lube on the inside of cocking devise to push the hammer and it does not bind and is smooth. Hope this helps.
-
Jared, the safety on the single shot is manual, and does not automatically engage.

I did inspect and lube that assembly, from what I saw mine was not rough but had some mfg debree, that wiped off.

Pretty sure the slide on my Air Force moves with the shot as it pushes on the valve.
Torties? Oh I know about them, especially the dark tortie runt.
The first time the vet laid eyes on this one she said, “Oh you are in a lot of trouble.”
What an understatement! Sticks to me like glue, needy needy needy. Also a thief.
Mmm, may be spoiled too.

James,
My P-Force is scheduled to be delivered this Thursday.
I have a Air Force Talon SS and removing the barrel is simple.
Does the P-Force barrel come out by removing the same four screws ? and then pulls out the front.
I plan on removing barrel to clean and inspect first thing.
Thanks, Robert

Yes LOL about the only difference from an Air Force is no auto safety, and its location. OK reg setup too.

Smitten again... :o
Been reading posts around the web on this gun (not the marketing reviews, I don't put much stock in those).
I never was a "tactical" style gun fan.. I think I even commented that this one looks more like a spear gun. The NOTOS and the Avenger in the Buck Rail kit have turned my opinion of that around. Also the cost of the Talon line up gave me the excuse I needed to stay away.. I'm a cheap S.O.B. :-\
But the price, including the discount on this one has grabbed my "I want" attention. I keep hearing a little voice in my head saying "May the PForce be with you". I know, crazy, right?
So I put together the plan to gather the funds to order one. That should happen later today... we'll see.
-
Fedup said yesterday and now today... I hope it isn't beat to death.. Have a UTG compact coming for it. JTS and AVS pellets and slugs..
Besides the grand daughter said it would be "Cute" next to my .457 Texan.. Never ending battle, Us vs. shipping...
-
Well, the deed is done.. the order has been placed. I sold a couple PB guns that I had laying around unused to the gun shop. Got it for $238 to my door.
They had an AF Texan .457 on the wall for sale. He had $450 on it but said he would make me a deal with what I brought him. I turned it down because I have no use for a big bore gun... I plink and pest. I would have had to buy a mold for the bullets.
Anyways... I have a PForce on the way.
-
You should have grabbed that Texan and resold it !!! ::)
-
You should have grabbed that Texan and resold it !!! ::)
I know better... I would have never sold it.

-
Well tracking shows it in Missouri... Was to be here yesterday, then today, now it saying tomorrow... I just might refuse it .. Why they shipped it FedEx I don't know... I am ticked off to say the least..
-
Just got confirmation that the gun has been shipped with FedEx tracking number.
-
Dangit, Bill. Now that you ordered one of these tactical baddies I have one in the cart tempting me. We'll see if I last the night.
How's the trigger working out for folks, stock or mod'd?

I have been shooting mine as is, 3# or the like, I find it breaks cleaner than an Airforce or the 2 I have :)

There are a few mixed reviews but the gun is still relatively new on the scene.
-
Sitting on the rockin' chair.. reading you'alls results... waiting for the dust to settle down before I buy my own.

FedEx just updated the tracking to show eta Tuesday 2/25.
I suppose I need to round up a scope and rings and cast, cull and weigh some pellets. I also have boat tails to try.
Better check the batteries in the chrono too.

As for backyard friendly... I live in the backwoods of lower Alabama.. a Howitzer would be backyard friendly here.. ;)

;D Chuckle, Chuckle
Ya, I hear you,
as some are less fortunate, Thank God, as I'm also off the beaten path
Since I was brought up shooting the long gun, took awhile for me to even adjust to the Bullpup
Guess it's me in question on this modern day tactical single shot air rifle
Here again Each to their own,
No discouraging factor here, where I was considering looking toward their Long Gun

I have not had a chance to shoot mine in the back yard yet :) border line basement friendly impacts are about equal to the blast. Buck Rail has something with that thread size that would make you look if the gun even fired though :) 14-1 metric IIR

I believe I read that the moderator is oversized... Maybe a new stack would make it more efficient.. Supposedly mine should be here today, after beating around Fedup for over a week... I hope it isn't to beat-up.. If it is, it will go back.... Not happy with the shipping!!

I am mildly concerned about this cheap AF copy's 6061 aluminum air tank. I hope it has an appropriate safety factor for the rated pressure. Aluminum is not like steel, in that it fatigues at well below the yield stress.
The GTA folks that made aluminum air tanks for PCPs liked to use 2024 Al because it is stronger and only slightly heavier that 6061. I assume the 6063 aluminum is used for the frame and rail of the PCP. No worries there, but 6063 has half the strength of 6061.
I wonder if Lloyd Sykes would be willing to hydro test an unused air tank form one of these AF copies to bursting pressure with oil or water, to see if it has the required factor of safety?

It might help to first find out who actually manufactures these guns. I am about 90% certain they are made in the Artemis Snowpeak factory, but I do not know for sure. I have asked the Chilean airgun distributor Defensor Forever the question of who actually makes the QM22 and QM23 guns they sold and am waiting for an answer. Strangely they no longer sell the QM23 but do sell the QM22 and QL001, which is a tactical synthetic stock version of the P-Rifle. Maybe this is related to Snowpeak not making the P15/P35 guns any longer, having now replaced them with the new P35X-TB bottle gun. So far all I know is Pinty does not make the guns and Defensor Forever does not make them.
If it does turn out to be Artemis Snowpeak that actually makes these things at the Shaoxing Snow peak Air Gun Factory , then I would not worry too much about the air tanks since they have been doing this for many years.
By the way here is the P35X-TB with it's 600cc bottle good for 100 shots in .25 cal. at 950 fps. It appears that it comes in 4 different calibers. .177, .22, .25 and one not listed, though they do list the 4 different max fps speeds: 1000/1100/950/850fps. Hopefully it is a 9mm.
-
The bottle is marked with test pressure of 30mpa which is just over 6500psi. We'll never know if they actually did that but i feel 100% safe filling to 3650psi.
-
If Snowpeak made these AF copies I feel better, because they have a good reputation to protect.
The question is if that reputation is founded on steel air tanks, or have they made aluminum tanks for some time, without trouble? If they are new at aluminum tanks, have they taken into account the unfriendly fatigue properties of aluminum, compared to steel. Rhetorical questions, all.
7075 aluminum is twice as strong as 6061, but whether the design is "good" depends on the details. I don't know the details of the bullpup mentioned, so can't comment.
The reason why I brought this up is because your face is against the tank when you shoot this AF PCP copy. I would rather lose a finger tip than an eye...

I've been waiting years for any of these bottles to explode. But the reason I never hear of one exploding is because that isn't a failure mode. They would only explode If the vessel were placed under extreme duress. If they were to fail for manufacturing defect or corrosion it would just crack at the location and leak. Most likely at fill. Since that is maximum pressure when combined with compression heating.
-
Yeah... I ain't freaking out. It's not like I have a flight scheduled on a commercial airline or anything.. :o :-X
-
I have been using those bottles for a few years now, so far my head is still attached. I stick to the 3650 fills or less.
-
How's the pressure gauage on these? I am questioning the pressure gauge on the P-Rifle, but I also don't trust my hand pump gauge to be truer.

Mine have been consistent with the gauges on my other filling devices.

Thanks, James.
I was expecting more shots from the P-Rifle and the reg to not be set so high. But then again, Ikm still testing and am not sure I have the numbers right in my head. I think it dropped off the reg around 175 bar, but memory is a funny thing. Will know better when it drops off next time.

I've been waiting years for any of these bottles to explode. But the reason I never hear of one exploding is because that isn't a failure mode.
The first question is the definition of "these bottles". If you are referring to the filament wound gas bottles, they are amazingly robust; leaking rather than rupturing when abused - as can be seen in the video below. What they would do if you pressurized them to 3+ there rated pressure is another question...
All metal bottles or tanks are not the same as filament wound bottles. Steel air tanks that have not been abused or suffered corrosion "last forever". Aluminum gas bottles need a higher factor of safety to offset their poorer fatigue life, compared to steel.
There are aluminum PCP air reservoirs that have exploded, generating a consternation in the airgun community. At least with respect to, "that is impossible" being countered by, "yet it happened" - as can be seen by the link directly below. That thread is long, but asks some very good questions about light weight air reservoirs mounted close to your face in a PCP. One question remains; will we ever hear the full story?: www.airgunnation.com/threads/leshiy-2-explodes.1284424/

It seems reasonable that a metal tank would let go at peak pressure, so probably during filling, but sometimes cracks are not yet all the way through the cylinder wall. The firing event reduces the tank pressure a little, but firing it is like striking the tank with a screwdriver handle. That little wrap can cause a crack to propagate, and for the tank to unzip spectacularly. The energy stored in compressible gas is very large, compared to using incompressible fluid, which is why the latter is used for testing pressure vessels.
The video below is of destructive testing of steel scuba tanks. Using air rather than water or oil, yields a spectacularly abrupt release of energy:

My reg is at 15 MPA I may up that if I decide to use slugs on the heavy side. I have not really kept track of shot count, I get close to 40 for sure, I would be happy with 20 if I decide to put the gas to the slugs.
-
P-Force.
As seen below the bottle is 350cc and the Huben Cricket plenum is 19.5cc.
I fill to 3600 psi as recommended and the reg is set to 14 -15 MPa (hard to read that tiny gauge)
I get 67 (on the run) shots with 14 fps spread But I'm sure I can tighten that up a bit with some HS adjustment.
30 FPE with an 18.1gr JTS pellet.
-
Steve on the bullpup thread noted his reg is also around 150 bar, same as the p-force. I would expect the p-rifle to also be around 150 bar. I had it in my head as 150 where it fell off, but then it seemed to fall off at 175 last time I shot a fill. I dont think hammer adjustment would affect the drop off point that much. Looking forward to seeing where it falls off this next time. Memory is a funny thing.
Steve is getting 30 fpe as well with 21gr baracudas.

The pressure gage on my P-RIFLE matches the gage on mt GX CS4 pump.

Thanks, Richard. What's your p-rifle reg set point/where does it fall off?
-
My P-Rifle matched gage on my RovAir as I filled. Haven't checked it against my hand pump, but of the two I trust the rovair more.
-
@splitbeing--- Dont know yet only shot a couple mags been fitting flu and in bed. Hopefully weather will change and can get some trigger time this weekend. In the video looks like 3 mags is about all on reg.
-
Thanks, Terry.
Richard, the Nibbs video he has the hammer setting flush/stock. He didn't even get three mags on reg, but was close. I have been in search of the sweet spot. At present, I am 30 shots in with all the shots around 873 fps, give or take 5 fps. My hope is to get 40 shots on reg.
-
Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep us posted
-
At 873 plus or minus 5 fps with ftts I got 35 shots on reg. After that, it dropped off. I got 44 shots total with a less than 20 fps ES (it was 17 or thereabout, next shot took it to 21).
I noticed when the hammer was flush and I first shot it, the first shot was higher than the subsequent shots (if memory serves). It was pretty hot up there in 900s. After decreasing the hammer spring force to 850ish I noticed the first shot was lower in fps than subsequent shots. Same first shot phenomenon (ie lower) with an 873ish setting.
Going to follow a hunch and increase the hammer tension to get around 900 fps and see first shot is higher, lower, or close to the speed of the subsequent shots. Might that be a trail to follow to the sweet spot (of shot count and power)?

Maybe it'll encourage airforce to keep innovating

P-Force.. 3400 psi, regulator at 150bar or (15 mpa) ..
JTS Dead Center 16.08gr. around 920 fps.. Power wheel set to one.. (Center the screw on the last tick mark closest to the breech..)
Olympia slugs, Don't know if it to large or to long 25 gr. 755fps, One +12 (Center the screw on the last tick mark closest to the breech +12 on the dial) (Need to slug the barrel)
AVS .2193 22gr. dish base.. 830 fps, 1.0 on power wheel... (Last tick mark, closest to the breech, center the screw..) I also have a super-well that I am trying... I will let you know.
-
I'm a bit confused... which direction increases hammer strike... towards the muzzle or towards the breech?
When I got my gun it was set all the way towards the muzzle... bottomed out. I had to move it back to the 3rd hash from the muzzle to get the gun to fire.
-
Hammer spring increases when screw moves toward the breech...

I just received my rifle. Arrived in perfect condition with bolt handle off, in the bag. So, they are listening.

SOLD OUT
I guess we'll see if this was a one-and-done or if they keep making them...
Looks like as of right now they have 16 Bullpups and 51 of the rifles left. (That's what it would allow me to add of each to the cart before saying they had no stock.)

0067 checking in.

I kept forgetting to post the SN on mine 00051

Ser# 34 here
-
So far nothing over 100. Not even close yet sold out.
-
P-Rifle, which is least sold, but my number is 73.
-
I ordered pretty late compared to many of you, my bolt knob was not attached, but have a low number anyway.
P-Force, barely legal at 0018.
Based on this, I would say the boxes are not being sold in serial sequential order.

I kind of suspected as much, since I bought fairly early on and so late in numbers. Good confirmation this way. Or maybe they are selling in reverse sequence. 🤔
-
I said this before when we were trying to figure out the 362 picking order.
This makes perfect sense if you think about how they come off the line and get stacked on pallets for shipping to the distributors. #0001 would go on the bottom of the pallet. I doubt if the first few went out to retail but I think you get my meaning.

There are some available on Ebay from another vender same prices no GTA discount.

I see that Pinty upgraded the layout and adopted the moniker "P-Force" to all 3 guns.. To me this suggests they intend to get more of the Tactical that is now showing "sold out". If I were in the market for one of these I think I would hold off for a couple weeks and see if they do.. I would hate to buy from somewhere else at full price and miss out on the discount.

Those sellers on Ebay are drop-shippers. They don't have any guns in stock. If you look you will see there are none of the tactical models on ebay. Once the Pinty site shows the bullpups out of stock, check ebay and I bet they will be gone there. In reference to pricing, you can actually get the rifle cheaper on ebay vs the gta code. 214.19 on ebay vs 219.99 with discount.

I would be happy to give Pinty the extra $5 just for not having to deal with FleaBay.

One thing I noticed about eBay is they are selling "Defender" PCP airguns, which is the English translation of Defensor. Some of them in .25 cal.
Just do an eBay search for "defender pcp"
