Title: Marauder Semi Auto in .25
Post by: Joe Smith on December 27, 2024, 04:56:58 PM
Looking at a solid .25 for pest elimination.
Gauntlet 2 has more power from what I am reading.
Marauder a bit less but having fast follow up shots is a real plus.

Marauder costs more.

Not punching paper. Pest elimination. Pigeons, skunks, raccoons and a ton of gophers/ground squirrels, muskrats and even geese on ponds by crop fields. (legal, for crop depredation)

Is it worth it?

Both have plenty of power to hunt all the game species you listed.

Joe ,hello,my two cents. You need to remember that ANY semi of ANY "gun" will have a "stiff" trigger, just the way it is. If you happen to have or know someone w/ an AR powder burner , try it once or twice. There are aftermarket triggers for some that are better but still are not "varmint " weight. I know , been there ,done that, have the receipts to show it! A bolt or side lever air rifle will ,in most cases, have a better trigger to begin with or will be adjustable with some simple screw turns. I avoid polishing/ honing pieces and parts unless a qualified "smith" does it. I personally prefer to turn screws if possible and call it good,
'cause you can always go back if you go to far. I am a "trigger snob" as a good trigger is a big part of good shooting. Speaking from experience , I've used some handguns that have out shot rifleman at distances for game & targets that were thought to be unreal ( long ago before age & health issues). I think you need to compare apples to apples. If you have the funds & want a semi , then Huben is probably the first stop. I have an Evanix AirSpeed that had a 5.5lb trigger pull when I got it from John at NEAG , while in Boston visiting family. The pull has mellowed to around 3.5 just from use w/o any work done. Blasting paper or reactive targets is fun , but game /pest shooting should be as precise/ ethical as possible. "Fast follow ups" are good advertisements but one shot kills are more to the liking . Just my opinion.

I know that the Marauder and Armada are available in semiautomatic, but I have only seen them in 22 caliber.
Have you seen 25 semiautomatic?

Dang I hate this IPhone!

I had a .25 Air Speed for a while. It was cool but not really something I needed for targets and plinking. It now belongs to a member that actually hunts.

I was sure I had seen a slte listing the .25 Semi Auto. It was a site that had the .22 Lothar Walther barrel option.
Looking now I don't find one.
Probably confused and just mixing one up with another.

There is a 25 Marauder listed on the Airguns Revisions website this morning.

https://www.airgunrevisions.com/product/marauder-regulated-25/ (https://www.airgunrevisions.com/product/marauder-regulated-25/)

I didn’t see this a couple of days ago so it must be new.

I have one marauder with the Turkish walnut stock and I love it.
