After driving a day to hunt for the long weekend I was happy to spend time with family in the woods. I was even happier when I saw a huge 8 point come through Friday morning. Unfortunately he didn't give me a shot. So I had to settle for his little brother (below) on Saturday morning.
For those who wonder if a Big Bore air rifle will do the job. The answer is yes. I took this buck with a .50 Caliber Dragon Slayer from 36 yards. He was on his way to check his scrapes. I had to take the shot left handed because he didn't give me any warning. One shot through both lungs. We found the pellet between the fat and the skin on the opposite side. I tracked him about 50 yards and the picture below is proof that my "BB" gun will do what I need it to. He weighed about 160 pounds.

You can call him a "little brother," but he looks pretty decent sized to me.
Great shooting with the DS, and good eating is on its way.

Congratulations! Good shot.

HOLY COW! Very nice shooting! I'm going to have to see if TN will allow big bore airguns next year. I'll contact the TWRA forthwith! :D It would be cool if they allowed them during the archery and muzzleloader season! That way you'd have plenty of time to harvest a deer or ten. :D

Congrats! Nice shooting!

Thanks Guys.

No kidding, it would be nice to not have to travel across the country (even though I have family there) to go hunting. It would be even cooler if they would classify it as a primitive. Hey Louis and Clark used one. After Deer season I'll be trying to bag some coyote.

Fantastic shooting and super pics. I'll take your word for it that he's just a "little brother" but he sure looks big to me. Very nicely done, congratulations...

That is awesome, congrats on a very nice buck! I cannot wait to get my 909 out there slinging some lead.

Congratulations!
30-50 yards is about as far as a deer ever gets after getting shot thru both lungs with a bigbore airgun. Typical bigbore airgun results judging from multiple reports......very effective hunting arms!

nice shooting!

Bro, if thats the "little brother" then I would probably get a bad case of buck fever if I saw the "Big Brother!"
Great shot with that 'bb' gun.

And they don't destroy the meat.

Oh I did. Looking back he gave me a split second to take a shot but I was to busy looking at him through the scope.

Nice shootin and its great to see them taken with an airgun....

Awesome job there! That's a nice looking deer and a good amount of meat in the freezer. :)
I wish they would allow us to hunt with big game with big bore air guns here in California.
