Title: Lube for Co2 cylinders
Post by: thumbs on September 29, 2024, 11:16:37 PM
What is the proper lube to put on the co2 cylinders before installing into the gun? Is the only place necessary to lube the gun's internal parts properly? I was told to only use pure silicone oil. If so Super lube be the best choice?

thanks for the help

I use either silicone oil or ND 30 wt. depending on what is handy when I install a cartridge. Mostly 30wt. as it is everywhere I am LOL.

Detonation isn’t an issue with Co2. I put a drop of Secret Sauce on the tip of the cartridge & then just barely snug the cap.

PellGun oil, automatic transmission fluid and others have been discussed many times.  Do a search here and you should find many threads on this topic.

Indeed, pelgun oil has been mis-identified ad nauseum when you search it though. It's closest match was Royal Lubricants hydrologic fluid IIRC.

It was either msds sheets or spectral analysis for refereeing that conclusion I believe?

Anyway, I'm using Pelgun oil over Teflon tape on my 408, but not shooting the newly purchased mm tuned XS60C at all bc it leaks badly from the gimmicky cap...
