Title: New Vantage .177. Groups and couple of questions
Post by: bfmghm on September 02, 2024, 06:39:01 PM
Took delivery day before yesterday.  Fired about 75 shots at random cans and stuff till it got dark.  Went to bench today.  This was from 10 yards open sights.  Not bad.  Sure likes the Superdomes.  So far I'm impressed with this rifle.  Looking forward to some serious time with it.

Couple of questions -

Out of the box I did put a drop of peloil on the hinges.  They sounded a little scratchy.  Any suggestions on where else to lube?

I notice that after the initial break when i start to put pressure to start the cocking cycle I hear a slight c-cluck.  After that it cocks like any other rifle.  Yes, it's stiff but will no doubt break in with time.  I have a shadow 1000 and Hatsan 95 that don't do this.  Is this normal? Maybe a Crosman thing?  Anything to be concerned about?  Maybe just needs about a thousand cycles.

Any other tips and suggestions on the Vantage are appreciated.

If you've not done so throw a bit of lube on the spring wedge that holds the gun shut.  It will facilitate opening the gun and possibly eliminate your click.
