I find myself shooting my air rifles in rested form off of my garden claw. In fact I shoot off of it more often than not. I have a portable table that I use from time to time, but the garden claw makes life easy. Simple and portable and solid for accuracy. Simply push it into the ground, set up a chair or bench behind it and rest the barrel on the handle. If you have one laying around in the garage or shed; I invite you to give it a try if you haven’t already.

That's a great idea, Ryan!
I have a hard time shooting off shooting sticks. My preferred method is using a folding step stool. I sit on the step stool and rests both elbows on my knees.

Dinh. Give it a try! Mine is the perfect height for shooting with me sitting in a chair or on a small bench.

You gotta have the right soil to use one of those. It won’t stabilize in the beach sand that passes for soil here. I use an old light stand tripod for a shooting rest. I plucked it from someone’s trash pile by the side of the road. I duct taped some scraps of pool noodle to the cross piece for padding. It ain’t pretty but it’s stable, adjustable for height, and it didn’t cost me a dime. ;D

Captain Carter. I love the act of repurposing items to feed this hobby. You are right about sandy soil. Here in the good ol Midwest we have thick clay based soil that holds great.

When I want to test air guns from a seated sandbag rest, I like to set this old B&D Work Mate out of the garage on the driveway. I found it at a trading post who accepted my $10 offer. They show up at yard sales too as my other one was found for $15. This simple model sells for about $50 new. That Garden Claw would be great to take down to the back yard bench as it is much lighter. Good idea! I have one shaped like it only with a round blade for planting bulbs. I will try it to see if it works. (http://)

What's that shiny, classic ride in the background? How about a full pic?

Well it is a thread about shooting rest so here is a different angle on the shooting rest. The car in the picture too is a 1973 Buick Gran Sport Sun Coupe 455CI Stage1. One of 723 special order cars with only 36 being Sun Coupes with power sunroof. (http://)

Great idea. Much lighter than my collapsable workbench.
