Title: Specifications for Daisy Spring Compressor Tool
Post by: Thor760 on August 13, 2024, 10:31:28 PM
My next project will be to freshen up my Daisy 1938b 40th Anniversary model.  It is shooting a little weak.  I plan to install a new plunger, more powerful spring and larger diameter air tube. To prepare, I have watched Restomod Daisy’s channel.  I need to craft a tool to compress the spring while I remove the metal post that butts up against the spring/plunger assembly.

I was going to cut a block of wood to fit nicely in the hand and glue in two lengths of welding rod.

My questions are:

How long should the rods be to properly engage the spring?

What diameter of rod works best?

How far apart should the rods be spaced?

I appreciate the knowledge on this forum and any advice is appreciated.

Also I have Pellgun oil on hand.  Should I use that to lube the plunger seal and wiper or is 20 or 30wt non detergent oil best?
