Title: Crosman Custom Shop
Post by: d_ray50 on July 22, 2024, 08:39:46 PM
I just received a 1300KT with 14.6 LW .177 barrel last week and just a few minutes ago I went to the CS and it has been closed. I guess I got lucky.

Since the announcement that they are closing their NY facility, I wondered when this was going to happen. Very sad  :(. I wonder if this also means that previous CCS gun owners no longer have the ability to buy upgrades, like the LW barrels?

Called them a few minutes ago to inquire about our "common ground" 14.6" LW barrels ( lol! ), particularly the 2400 170 and 2400 171, and the lady told me neither were available even after I gave her my previous CCS order number  :P  I did not dig deeper 'cuz she didn't sound too cheerful, lol!

Having 2 of the .177 version and being very satisfied with them, I've always wanted a .22 (2400 171) but my waffling attitude is just too stubborn, lol! Oh, I also own a 10 inch version of this barrel, but it can never compete in accuracy at 25 yards. The 17xx LW barrel is almost as accurate. I've tried the 14 inchers in C02, pumper, and PCP and they just plain shoot 👍

As a sidenote, I also own 2 LW MROD barrels in .22; 1 of them as spare.

Now, I'm listing down spares that I might need.

The most annoying response to my inquires that I've ever heard was "It's just business".   :-\

This bums me out so much!  I wanted a custom 2240 rifle. I had the money during the pandemic, RIGHT before they closed the shop. Then they re-opened it while I was away from the hobby, only to close it as soon as I get back into it. This is annoying as *(&^. I mean I can build the same thing myself, but it will take a lot more time, probably cost more, and not come out as nice.

It just really a downer for those of us with a big fondness for the lego guns...

The reality is, even a lot of Crosman stuff seems to be made in China these days. Won't be surprised when they whole company ships out for China permanently, and their stuff stagnates or loses it's quality altogether.  Not that there aren't great Chinese airguns, but I'm not optimistic about the possibilities
