Title: Crosman 392 shooting high
Post by: tennx on July 13, 2024, 09:57:27 AM
It started out as a 2014 392,but was rebuilt with a new barrel/tube assembly…over spray has been cleaned out…the only pellet it shoots with any consistency are the H&N FTT..but that’s another adventure…I installed a new Williams peep..and am running out of adjustment and cheek weld is getting compromised…..gun still shoots 1/2 inch high @ 30 feet…opinions

Thanks

How many pumps are you putting in the gun to shoot 30' (10 yds)?

thanks ..3 pumps …every thing else seemed to work on 3…this was indoors late and trying to be kind to the dogs…lol…dont remember if I tried 4…. All my other peep mounted guns are ridiculously accurate…your c9 came on the money…I used its settings as my starting point…

Just tried 4 pumps and its a little better…cheek weld is awkward….I have to balance the bullseye on the top  of the front sight..to get center mass…I can go with another sighting set up , but we do love our peeps..

I vaguely recall that Williams changed these at one point to add additional range of adjustment for this reason.  I also have a 2014 with the Williams sight and it has enough adjustment.  Is your Williams sight more than 10 years old?

As u can see the Williams just wont sight in…RD is on the money

Ive never had one I couldnt sight in..unless its the gun and the RD allows me to adjust out errors… and the 5d wont…

I just sapped a 5d from another gun and it acted just like the one I took off…lol

I put on an older Williams peep that was one of the ones that were not made adjustable low enough for a 392.  I added some JB Weld SteelStik Epoxy putty to the top and when cured shaped it about 1/8" taller. coated it with some super glue for extra strength then painted bright orange.  My 392 now has some adjustment on the sight so it no longer shoots high even when bottomed out.  (http://)
