Title: Crosman 760 Pumpmaster Rebuild-What Lubricant for Other Parts?
Post by: Thor760 on July 04, 2024, 12:05:22 AM
I am rebuilding a late 90s early 2000’s 760 Pumpmaster.  I have a seal kit on the way that includes a pump cup, and all the orings for the valve.  The valve in the gun is brass.  I intend to use pellgun oil on the pump cup.  During re-assembly I was thinking of applying a light coat of Remoil on the hammer and the brass part of the valve assembly.  I also was thinking of applying RC hobby 100% silicone oil to the new orings on the valve.  Does the valve require any internal lubrication or will the Pellgun oil work its way in?  Any recommendations or changes to my approach are appreciated.

Also I have also cleaned out the barrel with wet Ballistol patches and finished with dry patches.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Yes, the Pellgun oil will migrate and lubricate the valve.

Agreed.

And while you have the gun apart, check if it has a rifled barrel. My 1999 760 has one (pre-5 shots clip).

Appreciate the reply’s.  I double checked the serial.  It begins with O02. October 2002. I thought it was older.  Crosman did represent months of the year with alpha characters for some runs.  Looked down the barrel and found a smooth bore.  I have the 5 shot clip and fiber optic sights.   Sometime in the near future I am going to seek out a mid 80s 7th variant with the rifled barrel like I had growing up.  That thing was a shooter!
