I shoot almost daily 2-4 hrs. on my range. Really enjoy, only shooting springers, for six years now. My range is only 25 yds. to 47 yds. shooting into a 12 ft. berm off my back porch. All my guns have either Air Max’s or Element scopes. Sometimes when I shoot in the evening I have a hard time seeing the crosshairs, thinking this is normal.
Then one day I had to clean my glasses when I was shooting (foggy). Cleaned them, put them on still foggy. Within a month I had my eyes checked out. Cataracts. Yikes. Researched and talked to a few people at record speed. Booked it.
The 20 and 27th I had lazer surgery on first my shooting eye then my left. I was awake during the procedure. It’s more like a light show than anything. I asked the doctor when he was going to do it and he told me he was finished. The worst part was getting the IV needle. All I can say is wow.
Now my crosshairs are vivid compared to before. I shattered a 1 yr. personal shooting record first shoot. My pistol shooting is easier. Iron sights, night and day. Really anxious to spend more time on these, couldn’t see properly before. I still amazed by the difference in shooting.
I’m now 4 days past second surgery, I can read small print and see distance without glasses. I’m told, will never need them. This is actually a big plus for us youngsters for a change.
If this brings awareness to even 1 member, would be bonus. Good luck. Crow

Glad they fixed you right up! ;)
What type of lens did they implant? Do you need glasses to load pellets?
Will be my time soon enough...

I had cataract surgery in both eyes about four years ago.
I have 20/15 distant vision in both eyes.
The doctor, a combat veteran asked what I do?
I shoot.
Then you want distant vision.
I use readers for close computer work and reading.
Not for driving or shooting and that includes open sights and peeps.
Fantastic.

It appears cataract surgery varies significantly by location. I went to Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute to have mine done. It's a West Coast clinic. The name is deceptive in that they don't use a laser for the surgery but a very fine scalpel - diamond I think. They do use a laser for some eye stuff but not cataracts. I had no IV but the needle into they eye socket to deaden everything was kind of scary. In the end it all worked out.

Thanks, Yogi. I had a choice. I could have had for distance and wear readers. I have like a bifocal lens. I can read small print and see distance. It’s still adjusting, but it’s really mind boggling. I don’t have to wear glasses ever, they say. I believe it was all done by AI, the doctor seamed to watch. It was like herding cattle, surgery day. Every person who had their first done couldn’t wait for the second. Good luck

Roadworthy I had a choice of laser or the knife. Best light show I’ve seen in a while. Crow

I had my cataract surgery several years ago, and it made a huge difference. Trees were no longer olive drab cotton balls-they actually had leaves! Depth perception returned, colors more vivid. I had to relearn how to negotiate stairs, but that was a small price to pay.
