Title: Disco .177 barrel
Post by: Spooner on June 28, 2024, 01:33:57 PM
So Crosman told me this morning that the Disco .177 barrel was obsoleted and discontinued a couple years ago. Alliance has a "normal" Disco 24" .177 that is supposed to be the same thing but without the flat spot. Does anyone have any experience with this normal Disco barrel? I am interested in knowing if it has the same level of accuracy as the one with the flat spot.
Thanks! ;)

I dont  recall a flat spot (moderators on both)..but I have one each on my 367(scoped) and   my 3677(peep)  and both are .25 cent hole rested  @ 30 yards ..YSMMV….good luck

As I recall the 3677 barrel came from Buck and Rail…The 367 probably came from crosman…sorry…

maybe try Alchemy Airwerks on ebay??  I have bought many Crosman items from him, barrels included.

You can get a 24” Crosman barrel from their custom shop if you had purchased a custom shop gun in the past.
From what I was told the other day when I ordered some barrels from them is that all of their barrels are choked now.
24” 177 cal barrel, part # 2400-003
$17.40 as of November 2023.

That's a really good price even with the shipping but is the 2400-003 compatible on a 13xx/362 platform? My guess is that the breech screw is in the rear where the 13xx or original 362 has that screw in the front. Thanks.

Good call…all my CS guns breech screw is to the rear…some have said they come both ways…but this has even my personal exp…good luck

Actually, I am confusing the barrel and the breach, sorry about that. The barrel itself would be fine since the TP for the 2400 is the same setup as the 13xx / 362.

I did some research and learned that the barrel that Alliance has is the 1760-001 which is for the Pumpmaster. The discovery barrel is the 1760SE-001. What I am considering is getting another original 362 and converting to a .177 with an FT setup. Tack Driver 10 was very kind in sending me his unused parts from the 362 he shortened and converted so it really comes down to deciding on a barrel. I won't buy the gun until I make that decision, and I have everything else, so it is just a matter of patiently looking at my options.

I do have a .177 Disco barrel. It was one that Tack Driver 10 sent me when I built my "Long Tom" a couple years ago, but I really like that gun a lot and it is wearing a Tom West AR style camo wooden stock. It is a sweet little setup with great accuracy and fun to shoot.

The 1760 was the .177 version of the single shot, CO2, .22cal 2260 gun.  I have one of those barrels (1760-001) on one of my Disco tube builds.  It does not have the flat spot for the Disco sight sleeve set screw.  It is a very accurate barrel and I used that because I did not plan to use the sleeve to cover the flat spot.  I believe the later 2260 guns had the SE suffix and used the Disco slide on sleeve sights instead of the rear breech mount plastic sight.

I converted both of my 362 guns to .177 using the 1760SE-001 barrels but, I cut and crowned both to around 18" to end in front of the forward barrel bands. They are now very accurate and compact carbines. If you want to add a silencer or a muzzle break you will need to cut them longer. Mine take on the look of a Sheridan at the muzzle.

Thought I had pics but I can't find them.

I think you meant to compare to a 397 ;)

Thank you Van. Your additional comments pretty much settle my decision.  8)

I remember those builds and I remember that they had a very clean and compact look.  8)

Ok, now I see what you and Van are talking about with the flat spot. Yeah, wouldn't need that as it will be scoped. Thanks.  ;)

Thank you very much Gents. I am all set. Used a discount code at Pyramid air on the 362 and got it shipped for $126.35. I went with Alliance Hobby on the barrel at $60. Everything else I have, and this will also give me the chance to finally use / test one of my modified barrel bands with the metal threaded T-nut added in for the barrel band set screw.  8)
