Well, finally took the plunge on ordering one of these last night. The squirrel traffic is getting pretty serious and I had this thought, since I’ve got a cabin rental business they are disrupting my operation I bet I could write this thing off on taxes for pest control… did some research and talked with a friend running a similar operation and sure enough he did the same thing.
That’s all I needed to hear. So the official business air rifle is on the way.
I went with the tactical version with the long barrel in .22, synthetic option for weather proofing…that ought to make me happy and the rodents very unhappy.

Eric, genius thinking and congratulations on the new Taipan V2 700 in .22! I have been eyeballing that same exact Vet, enjoy sniping said squirrels!

Thank! I’m pretty excited about it…hopefully my air tank and lines get here before the rifle so I don’t have to hand pump the thing…. Making all the moves to mechanize my air supply expecting lots of bench time. I’m torn on what scope to put on it.
I really like the Leupold 17505 I put on my Rws 54, but think a mil dot scope and higher magnification might be more appropriate for a rifle with these capabilities.

Eric, someone on AGN has an Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50 FFP for sale for like 535, they are usually 1000....I have the little brother BTR 2.5-15x50 FFP and it is very nice but the ETR is better FYI....it's like new and Athlon has a no fault lifetime warranty.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at it. Honestly I’ve been pretty attached to Nikon and Leupold, ventured into vortex for a bit til they started falling apart on me… so I’ve been a bit gun shy on trying new (to me) brands. But no recoil airguns are a different world I suppose… one which I’m supremely uneducated in the market.
The current game plan is to steal the nice Leupold off my marauder and while I weigh the options. The marauder will get an old tasco while I save the pennies for the next major purchase.

Leupold makes great glass!

Shopping around I found these scopes. It was a brand I wasn’t familiar with, but I kind of like the idea of a mil dot scope with an illuminated reticle. Made in Japan, and the price point seems pretty solid, I might have to try them out.

Eric, I have heard of that brand but don't know much about them. The Athlon Ares ETR has a 34mm tube and has ED glass ( fantastic turrets) and I know Athlon's warranty is the best but most Japanese made optics are well made and would believe the Zero to be too 👍

Well the tanks came in today but after the post office closed…grrrr
I ordered the “4” magazine holder off Utah airguns and it came in earlier today. Imagine my surprise to find it holds 4 on each side, so you can rock 8 spare magazines onboard. Either I missed the fine print or it wasn’t described very well in the listing. Regardless, it was a pleasant surprise. A couple more magazines will need to be ordered though to fill it up. Ought to be nice to have one loaded up with slugs “just in case”. Should be about enough preloaded magazine carrying capacity to shoot up a fills worth of air. I like that idea.
The rifle finally hit the mail, I added a quick adjustment knob that talon tunes offered so there was a slight delay from my changed order.
Found a deal on a “new used” zero tech scope so that’ll be here shortly as well. I’m getting excited for everything to arrive so I can break it in!

Looking forward to some pics! When I pest at a friend's permission I too always load one magazine with slugs in case of wind and longer shots! Let us know if you like the Zero scope! That mag holder sounds perfect 👍

Had an experience today filling tanks for the first time… I had one of those Amazon canister filters set everything up yong heng etc had to fill sort of backwards through a stick man cascade port. That worked though probably wasn’t ideal.
I got the eBay Scott tank to 2k psi and heard a distinct “pop” then hissing…that wasn’t too cool sure made me jump!
Finally found the canister filter had blown an oring… I realized the unit I received had threads cut “off square so the cap doesn’t seat properly and seal was compromised. No fixing that, so I’ll pull the fittings and junk the body. Probably will need to try again with the dryer filter Chinese raffle.
This time I’ll try the tuxing double filter thing with two canisters. Oh well, I bought the parts a year ago, and it’s past the return window. Just something to watch for. If the caps don’t screw in completely flush return it!
On the plus side both tanks are holding air at 4500 psi, and all seems well. The Yong Heng pump was pretty impressive, 33-35 minutes from empty to 4500-4600 psi on a 30 minute tank. That should be 1200 shots worth of fills on tap according to the calculator I used. That’ll be sweet!

Sorry about the fitment issues and blown o'ring! High pressure is a scary thing! I've had a burst disc blow on a fil tank...loud pop...hissing...yikes! Those YH are sturdy lil compressors, glad you can fill with it. 1200 shots is awesome, lots of air! I am lucky, I live exactly 1 mike from Joe Brancatto's shop for air and other.
