I will have to play with mine it kinda doesnt seem to like any pellet but the trigger is off for me dad is going to play with the trigger tomorrow and maybe put longer grubs in the trigger. The trigger on mine is a super longgggggggggggggggggggg first stage and no real wall at the second and breaks off at different points sometimes it goes off ahead of the creep then sometimes its behind the creep. I cant get it down pack at all so it scares the &^^& out of me which makes me jump and not hold my shot good after the shot which is important with a springer. Its super quiet and has a awesome shot cycle he tuned it up good. I just hope I can get the trigger straitened out so I can see how it groups. Hopefully a longer screw if i have one in my kit will make the first stage really short and get rid of that creep and get a idea of when it is close to going off right now its unpredictable so i cant really group it.
-
I have not ever set a trigger up to have a short or no movement in the 1st stage, I set all my triggers up to have a long 1st stage travel that comes to solid wall at the 2nd stage, the 2nd stage at that point breaks like a cracker, try turning all of the trigger adjustment screws back in to start off, I would try adjusting the big screw in the back of the trigger unit, that's the pressure adjustment, turn it out counterclockwise until you get the feel you like that's safe it may take 2 or 3 turns out and go from there, always keep a tight grip on the barrel when you break it open!!!! and hold on to it!!! in case you adjust it to far!!! if it slams up on you? it will probably destroy the rifle!!!! make sure you do this until you know all of your adjustments are safe and will hold the piston spring! keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction!!! ;)

If memory serves, yours was killing it with both JSB 15.89gr and 5.54 14.66gr FTTs. I THINK the FTTs were in the lead. There should have been a target taped to the box to give you an idea of what to expect with a given pellet.
As far as trigger creep goes, I set them in a safe place BUT there should have been a distinct wall. I'll give you a call later this afternoon to walk you through some things I've learned on that trigger

Believe me these rifles are very accurate! my .22cal USC loves the 5.53mm FTT's their a little snug going in, but they shoot! I have also had good accuracy with other pellets, keep in mind you have a new gun that needs to be broke in, the barrels on these guns need to be fouled from shooting them, it may take a tin of pellets or more before the accuracy gets tight! so the more you shoot them the better they get!!! 8)

Oh definitely! Dean's is going to be a bit different than yours though. He let me have some fun and really see what we could push from the factory spring WITH tighter guides. We ended up just over 18ftlbs all said and done. It's not necessarily hold sensative but if he isn't comfortable with the trigger, he's going to struggle with groups. I sometimes forget to take into account that I shoot these things every day and there is a slight learning curve to them at full power for those who don't
-
Oh, I know, which is why I had you tune mine down from the get go! my 400 compact I purchased years ago I opened it up out of the box and lubed it shot the 14.3gn Crosman pellets at 780fps! so I know what kind of power can be had from 1 of these guns, ;)

Yeah that is the only thing that not worthy when adjusting the trigger on a breakbarrel lol you go to much and she is breaking loose, I backed it out a little and it helped a little but I will have to take the guard off to get to the other screw. On other guns if you put a longer grub screw in the screw closest to the trigger alot of the first stage ca be took up.

lol yeah I mean that trigger goes of in different spots and not at the wall lol the wall changes and threw me off big time. I can tinker with the trigger and see my factory trigger of the air venturi avenger was garbage but after the grub screw its close to a record right now. Dad knows the triggers good and every one has a wierd sweet spot if it has a long travel in the first stage sometimes it like it but 9 out of 10 times if i can get a clean short 1st stage then the 2nd gets better..

Very nice Jeremy. I like that checking design much more than the compact star stocks. The wood grain of your stock is very nice too. What caliber did you opt for? I went with the .25

That is my Jam... i opened mine up and took some coils off to slow it down. Mine shoots 28 gr. benji domes at 490 fps. easy to cock and silly quiet. it is designed for short range ratting, pest bird bashing inside enclosed buildings, or squirrel elimination out to 25 yards. Shots farther than that are taken with faster rifles. This gun is devastating on impact. The damage from a slow moving 25 is unbelievable. Very manageable and accurate,
-
LD621, good to hear you like the .25cal, TJK just purchased a .25cal a few weeks ago, and has the same thoughts about his 25cal, he loves it! 8)
-
I got the 400 compact in .25 647fps with the 20 grain H&N FTS shoots very good. I also have the 400 USC gas ram in 22 .
-
How fast does the gas ram .22cal shoot?
