Add more units if you have enough gradations in can diameters. Or use an old spoon instead of the pellet tin.

Second photo shows the bendable metal wire I used to hold the two soup cans together; a loop at the bottom allows passing a string through from the pellet tin.

Love the idea, thanks for posting! I have all the material needed to replicate it. I also have a few different sizes of steel tubing that would make some noise too ;D.
