Mine is broken. I see WTB ads every so often. Never WTS ads. JGAirguns shows them for sale at $17, but out of stock. C'mon guys, lets see what you can do.

My 717 has it's sights but they are a bit loose. I buy one if they were available and not so floppy.

I saw Ramrod's classified request and considered 3D printing might be the solution, if y'all don't mind a part that isn't and doesn't look as polished as original.
I'm curious if there's a single part that's the weak link, or if the whole thing needs redone? Anyone who wants to send me their pieces, shoot me a PM.

Did anything happen with this? My 717 is fine, but I'd love to be able to replace the rear sight with a metal one.

Yes, the site is on its way back to me, thank you very much TorqueMaster! It is 3D printed, with some parts, screws mainly, either from the original or replacement. So unless you can talk him into 3D metal printing, probably not a metal version. Without a Daisy 717 rear site, the pistol was kinda useless, so really looking forward to playing around with it. I'll post more when I get it in my hands.

I'm afraid metalwork is beyond my skillset, but these replacement plastic ones should work well for anyone needing a replacement sight.
Jon was kind enough to send me what was left of his broken sight, and then the whole 717 for test fitting.
I built one sight reusing his original windage screw (a weird custom part with a threadless section with a groove for a push nut for retention) but felt it that it has more slop than appropriate, and only relied on plastic threads for blade movement. So I redesigned it with a nut inside the blade, for a new fully threaded windage screw to ride on, and a nut on the left side for screw retention. Little to no slop. The blade notch is about 4.0mm, which seems good for my eyes, but I can customize that notch size for anyone's preference. Pics attached:

Here's a couple pics of a no longer available B-Square clamp on rail. It's on an IZH46M but I believe the same clamp-on mount is used on daisy 7xx series pistols.

Metal definitely the preferred material, but it might work 3D printed -- bulk up the width, have it clamp the full length of the exposed barrel, or at least a good portion of each end -- so probably not cantilevered at all as shown in this design. I'm pretty sure the 717 barrel touches the pump tube housing? -- care needs to be taken to not wedge the barrel upward by the clamping forces. Might be worth trying...
I don't have a 717 on hand -- would need barrel diameter, and the geometry/diameter of the pump tube it sits on, and the gap, if any, between them. Also how much "useable barrel" length there is between the receiver halves and the front sight.
-
On my 717 I'm measuring
1. Barrel diameter .440
2. Pump tube diameter .958
3. Gap between barrel and pump tube .012
4. Front of receiver to back of front sight 3-5/8"

Excellent, thank you, I'll add this to my projects list -- still up are grips for an old Crosman pistol (not forgotten, just busy) then this.

Hey Bob, how much would you want for your rear sights?, mine works but is cracked and i would love to have one that looks better than the one is on it now. thanks in advance.

You are awesome. Helping out fellow shooters. I was going to offer as well. Just saw the post.

Thanks. I have a soft spot for Daisies, glad I can help keep some of the good old pistols functional for their owners.
This post reminded me I never did switch gears to that barrel clamp idea. Back on the list...
