The old man I am eventually considered necessary to use a smartphone, as my children told me the "Matrix" style dumbphone I had made me look even older. So I took my wife's used one and began learning, trying not to get paranoïd with those d...n mini digital keys.
Now, the Drama : I CAN'T get connected to GTA with that stuff :o. The answer to my attempts are "password wrong" or something alike.
Any help would make me be highly grateful.

You may have forgotten you password ??? I have LOL, contact an administrator and they can get you reset.
-
No, my password, the same I have since I subscribed some years ago, works OK, at least on my PC. Otherwise I couldn't tell you that ;D

Passwords are upper and lower case sensitive. Be SURE. Don't update phones due to pressure from others. They're not using it, you are!! They don't buy it, you do!! I mostly use a computer instead of a smart phone on the internet because I can type normally on a computer and I can see the screen better. It's a convenience thing with me. I use what works for me.

Confession time - I still use a 'flip phone'. I do texting, but rather slowly. Last week, I went to Louisiana alone for a funeral and kept in contact with my Judy by texting. PHEW! It was a struggle some of the time.
My son lives two blocks away. I can walk over and talk to him faster than I can text a conversation.
So why do I keep using the flip phone? The short answer is that I don't use the phone enough to be bothered by the inconveniences. Most of the time, it gets the job done.
You'll know when/if I get a fart smart phone.

I finally succeeded, using Qwant a french and exotic search engine (?!) But it's not the way I'm writing this right now, I use my common PC. My granchildren, though respectful and loving their grandpa, have great moments of fun looking at the old fart trying to kill invisible insects on his phone screen. As for my wife, she considers I shouldn't say such foul words when they're at our home >:( ;D

Reluctance to move from a flip phone to a smart phone demonstrates a selective, unwarranted, fear of technology. Using a smart phone is actually easier than using a flip phone... much easier. All of you are currently navigating this, and probably other forums. Meaning you already use certain sectors of technology and lack the confidence to try something new. You can disassemble, modify, build and tune fairly intricate airguns, but resist pushing a few new (digital) buttons.
You've resisted keeping pace with the phone advances and now you're intimidated by the prospect of moving forward. It's not that formidable. I'm betting you're all capable of learning something new. One of these days, you're not going to have a choice. Get a jump on the inevitable.
You don't need to spend a fortune. New, or certified refurbished, older models are available relatively inexpensively, at least from the carrier I'm familiar with. They actually have a smart phone for $20 more than a flip phone... that's total purchase price... and they finance interest free for 24 months. That's $3/ mo. There goes that excuse.
BTW.... I'm 77 YO, so don't go thinking I'm some young whippersnapper who grew up with technology.

Put the new keyboard on the desktop PC this morning. A world of difference. The old one was just clunky and sticky. I generally use my laptop from the comforts of the recliner when just hanging out on the GTA and browsing. I use the desktop in the bar to pay bills, keep records and print targets. It's on an old school roll top desk where reference books, paper/ink supplies and office related objects are all within reach. We also use it to stream music to the 750 watt sound system in the bar.

I went for years without a cell phone at all.. I wasn't afraid of technology.. I didn't want to be leashed to a phone. I owned and operated a PC repair shop and had regular business hours and an answering machine. "Can't come to the phone right now, wait for the BEEP".
It wasn't until I went into management for an automotive stamping company and was obligated to carry a smart phone that I succumbed to the tether. I was so happy the day I retired and handed that thing back in. I do have one now but only use it when one or both of us are away from home. We have a landline and an answering machine. That's the number we use on anything formal. The cell is used for personal.

Don, I think you are confusing fear with stubbornness! Hee hee
And, I just like my flip phone because it is small enough to fit in a little pouch on my bicycle.
Actually, the only things it doesn't do is sync with the car technology and have Google Maps for the car.

Take your choice.
...And about a million other things I'm sure you're aware of, but not relating to because you don't have/ use a smart phone. ;) You don't have to have one of those tablet size phones. There are ones that will easily fit your bike pouch.
Avator - I guess if your point of view is it's a 'leash' instead of a 'connection'? You have all the same options on a mobile phone you do on a landline. One being an answering machine in your hand. Plus, you get to pay one phone bill instead of two, and maybe not even to the same provider.

Don...
Enjoy your smartphone. ;)

Hehehe...
You know what ? I've had an old Panasonic cordless phone for 30 years and never have been brave enough to get rid of it. You know, that shoe-sized white thing with the flexible antenna you used to see in the "Friends" episodes my wife and kids watched on TV. From time to time (approx once a year), I plug it into my wire telephone socket (yes I still have that!) and discover just how much the digitization of radio links has improved things.
Err... Sorry, I'm getting off track, this should have been posted in the backroom gate. ;)

I have to flip my smart phone across the yard to send a text message.
-
Wish I had my flip phone back.
Among those little buttons is an arrow pointing up or down. Up is upper case, down is lower case.
-
Tim, check out the ALCATEL flip phone on Amazon.com.

Any connection between FPS/FPE and the message you send? ;D ;D

It seems low FPS with a rainbow trajectory works best ;)
