I now have a Crosman 2100B. Yesterday was abit cold out at 6°F and little to no wind. From having used 13xx" i learned that under 30°F there would be a loss in pump pressure along with lower velocity for the given # of pumps.
First off i started by adding a drop of Pellgun oil on the pumpcup. Next was to tighten all screws. There are a couple scratches on the barrel shroud near the muzzle but nothing bad.
I shot around 15 times and adjusted the elevation on the open sights to hit near near POA at 20 yards. The first shots hit low and left using CPUM 10.5gr and 8 pumps. The Front sight is abit wide with a green fiber insert. Nice and bright but abit wide. The elevation is adjusted using a stepramp, windage is adjustable by loosening two screws. I didnt adjust the windage as this run was mainly a function test along with initial inspection and firsthand insight and handling, also that 6°F is Cold. Today is 2°F with 20mph wind, no go on shooting for today too cold and windy.
The reciever is metal, not sure what kind but it is stronger than plastic. Pumping was not heavy or loud. Trigger has some travel, it went off when i wanted... i do need to get a better feel of the trigger but seems good.
The length and weight feels nice, heavier than a DP880. I noticed the stock to reciever connection has some wiggle. Also the barrel shroud to reciever also has some room to play,, rattles when i shake the shroud.
At a later time i will be taking this Air rifle apart but just not yet. I have a BR LDC for the 2100 that i will be installing, i would also like to tape mod the strawbarrel and findout how i can rid the stock and shroud of wiggleroom or "play". The Crown appears straight and even. Good. At a later time i will be adding a scope possibly a Svitvu 3-9x32mm HMD. I have 3 of these that i have manually adjust the parallax to airgun ranges.
At a later time when temperatures are warm enough i will be testing pellets on cans and through the Chrono.

Is that a new or used 2100B ??
Stock wiggle typically indicates fractures on the "clevis" ears inside the receiver.
Applying a couple wraps of electrical tape around the stock where it mates with the receiver will generally tighten things up a bit.
If you have never been inside a 2100 type rifle there are a few fiddly little parts to watch, and alignment
of barrel and air tube in the receiver is important for ease of assembly.

This was bought new from Mart op de Wal. They had a good low shipping cost of 12 dollars, so i paid around $75.
Thankyou for the info. I would like to get rid of as much slop movement as i can in the stock and on the barrel shroud. At a later time i will be taking this 2100B apart to see what i can do to improve the Air rifle. Also, thankyou for your posts that involve the 2100, Ronno6
When temperatures rise above 30°F i will get on sighting in and testing pellets. I will update when the time comes.

I can always appreciate your write ups about your airgun adventures. They are inspiring.
Plus the use of Dutch language makes me smile as it is my mother tongue.
Anyway, always in de back of my mind to buy a pumper rifle as well, but can't decide on the 2100, 880 or the NXG LOL (but that is a topic on its own).

Ok,, op de Pumpers, well i dont have much shots through this 2100B, but i can say it might need some work to be goood. The first are the stock and barrel shroud wiggle. Got to rid the air rifle of playroom. DP880 is a good easy to work on pumper easily modified. Having filled the limiter slot with cold weld then shimming the Piston Orings i have gotten gains of around +30 FPS at 10 pumps. You are in NZ? So are you able to find a Winchester 1977, or a Crosman 362?? I like these ones mentioned DP880, Win1977 and C362. Dont have any insight on a NXG, just know it has automatic safety that engages once the bolt is cycled. Crosman have thier advantage in being able to hold air before the bolt is cycled. And DP and Win have thier advantage in being easy to work on and resistance to cold temperatures.
In a couple days the weather forecast shows a few days of above 30°F, so if the wind will allow i might be able to get more shots though this 2100B and get some testing done .

Cheers, I am in the Netherlands and we don't have the Win1977, but we do have the C362. But I am more like a .177 shooter when it comes down to a sub 15fpe airgun. I've heard there is a C367 on the horizon as well ? that might be a great candidate for me.

Today i shot around 10 times at 15 yards and 6 pumps with DFN 7.6gr. Some wind so not exactly a accuracy test day. 10 shots in about an inch at 15 yards with 10+ mph winds.
So i got to taking aprt the 2100B...
When you said there would be a few fiddly parts,, you forgot to underline highlight and exclamation point each side to the word Fiddly. Wow i opened the reciever and the whole thing came apart,, ooh man I got some work todo. XD
I installed the BRLDC and am in process of thinking up how to tapemodding the barrel to shroud. Seems a round or two of electrictape will fit where the barrel inserts into the frontsight shroud. Ill see about wrapping most of the barrel and possibly shimming the shroud-reciever and the stock- reciever. Ill see what else i can get done and get this thing back together..

I tried shimming the muzzle end of the barrel with electric tape, no fit. Where Vinyl electric tape doesnt fit threadtape will fit. 4 rounds x2 of threadtape where the barrel meets the frontsight. Next 1.5" from the muzzle 8 rounds of gorilla tape + 1 round of electrictape perfect fit i also added more to make 3 of the tape shims to hold the barrel firmly in the shroud. I can hold the shroud and barrel upside down and get no rattle. I also added 1 round of electric tape on the stock inside where it mates w the reciever.
Now i need to figure out how to put the reciever and trigger parts together....

Ok. I added another shroud shim for a total of 4 tape shims on the barrel. After having taken apart and reassembled, took me awhile to get it back together. But it seems i am getting retained air at 6 pumps. No retained air at 5 pumps. I did take it apart again and made sure the hammerspring plug was aligned. I also oiled the hammer too. But idk what but for now it is retaining air. I might have to add #6 shims to the hammer,. Idk why it is reataining air. I Wonder if im losing air at the TP-Valve connection.,,
I did rid the 2100B of wiggle rattle playroom. Feels solid and abit heavier w all the rounds of tape.

I took apart the 2100B again to get some work done. I added 3 layers of thread tape to the bolt and inserted into the breech to ensure there is a good fit. I then added a layer of superglue to the threadtape to hold it in place.
I also added threadtape to the TransferPort to make a better fit asit is there is alot of wiggleroom between the TP and the Valve exhaust.
It seems that my Pin return spring in the Valve is tooo strong for the light hammer and the spring. I used a screwdriver to push and hold the hammer in to try and loosen up the spring. Either i keep shooting and possibly slowly the valve spring will work itself to where it no longer holds air. Or.... i would have to take the valve out take apart and clip some of the valve spring- something i dont want to do..
I will add more to this thread after completing more if anything..

I have added 2 of #6 lock washers to the hammer and i was still getting retained air at 6pumps and no retained air at 5 pumps.. After a number of shots i shot a few 10 pump shots with a little air retained but continued to retain air at anything past 6 pumps.
So im thinking if i keep the valve spring compressed and allow the air rifle to cool to the 1°F this should help the spring hold a new set and weaken the valve spring, i hope.
I took apart the air rifle and inserted a screw driver into the hammer to compress the valve spring. I used gorilla tape to hold the screwdriver inplace. I am Going to leave this outside for 17+/-hours and see if this will work on weakening the oversprung spring. The weather is suppose to get down to - 9 tonight brrr..

I reassembled the 2100B yesterday. The valve spring is alot easier to compress, before it took alot of weight to get the hammer to move.
10 pumps indoors then went outside to test. There was a little retained air at 10 pumps. I think when the airgun is pumped the valve is filled with outside cold 0°F air. I am very sure this has an effect on the valve spring causing it to stiffen and causing the retained air. I have been shooting this 2100B in temps i would not expose to any of my 13xx"s.
So once the weather has warmed abit i will get more shots through. If i feel like it i might long compress the spring in the cold again using the screwdriver+tape. Note- the threadtape on the bolt did not last.

C2100B + BRLDC
Using light pellets I still get retained air past 7 pumps. Using heavy pellets uses up most of the air leaving a tiny puff at 9 and 10 Pumps using CPUM 10.5gr
I have been using light pellets in this C2100B < SHP 6.9gr, RDB 7.0gr, EE2 7.4gr, CPD 7.4gr, GM 7.5gr. all at 6 or 7 pumps at 15 and 20 yards.
I can try long compressing the Valve spring through the hammer as I have in the spring. I have added 2 #6Split washers to the hammer and still retaining air with light pellets.
Im thinking to take this apart and add a scope cap type screw that fits in the hammerspring to add weight to the hammer strike force. I did this with my C2023 which was retaining air past 6 pumps, no longer retains air.
Does very good with the pellets mentioned above. Thought I'd give the heavy CPUM 10.5s a try on this windy day. Excite Econ II 7.4gr do very good so I added them in the Chronorun.
I have had this scoped for awhile, very good but for now i feel like using open sights.

A couple days ago I took apart my C2100B. I have the Airtube+Barrelshroud taped together so when disassembling I leave the barrel band on and the tube and barrel together. I took my hammerspring and hammer out. I tried adding a scope type screw to the hammer spring but this would not allow the Airgun to cock the hammer. Retry, this time with the 2 shims I originally had in. I tried again on thread taping the bolt to cut down on lost air from blowback. I cut a piece as wide as the notch and added 3 layers followed by a layer of superglue. Reassemble. 100 shots in the thread tape is still in place.
Ok no this longer retains air at 10 Pumps using any pellet types. Good. Now I got to testing heavier pellets knowing I have some good power.
I took a Atom One PC Tall Mount that I had sitting and premounted on the C2100. Some of my break barrel air rifles us these mounts to help see over the open sights. I could see the mount is sitting canted to the right, as the rear sight is centered. So using a small file and a triangle file I began on reshaping the dovetail mount to allow for proper level mounting. 20 minutes later after numerous times of rechecking fit and removing material I got the Atom mount to sit level to where can see the open sights centered in the channel of the mount, excellent work, high 5 my self if I could.
I then mounted the SV 3-9x32mm HMD centered and level.
Now I have the open sight set with ACH 8.5gr for 8 pumps and 20yards, 10 Pumps for +/- 25yards, 10 Pumps and 27 yards Scope with APT 9.0gr. The Atom Tall Mount provides good clearance for my hand to hold the receiver as I pump.
I can change the sightIn for the scope to whatever I think might work better than the APT 9.0. in accuracy. I'm sure HN FTT 8.7gr would exceed most other pellets but for now I'll be using the APT which do good enough. The open sights are set to where they are centered in the channel of the Atom mount so to use other pellets i would have to find pellets that hit in the same horizontal plane.

I’ve been following this thread with interest. I like the way you are going about your research. Very systematic. The numbers you are posting are very similar to what I got when I tuned my 2100. I didn’t have your problem with retained air but I don’t live in Alaska neither.
I received my 2100B direct from Crosman about four years ago. It came in a box that proclaimed it could be pumped twelve times. So I run mine to twelve pumps for pesting on mice and rats. I’ve mainly tested it with locally available pellets but I did break down and order some H&N FTT. By far the most accurate I tested.
My gun has a Legacy 1000 piston and an O’ring sealed brass bolt probe that I got from member Ronno6 (highly recommended!). At sea level, 85 F., twelve pumps FTT will produce just over 700 fps and almost 10 fpe.
The best things I did to the gun were retrofit the Legacy piston and the Ronno6 bolt probe. That’s where all the increase in velocity came from.

HN FTT @ 700+ Excellent Work. I would like to order a couple of Ronno6 2100 bolts. But for now I'll keep the 2100 as it is setup I don't want to make any changes,,, yet. Im thinking to add another 2100B, keep the next one loud and proud LDC-less. Also having another that would like different pellets sounds fun.

Yesterday was a low to no wind day.
After sight in at 27 yards I got the first 2 shots in the Bull. Next the wind from the 5 o clock position picked up.. 3rd shot was a bonker and hit high and left, this miss was on me and the wind not the pellets or the airgun or scope. Shots 4 and 5 I can only guess were drifted by the wind along with me breaking the trigger a little low hitting low and left. Not the best group but I'll try on another low no wind day w other pellets. This trigger is travel with no stop. So i count 3 tiny movements and 4th move it should go off when I want.
Today is a bit windy so no grouping pics just punching cans at 20 yards. When the wind calms I would like to find other pellets that work with the fixed windage open sights.

The Legacy piston will work. IMO the Delrin Bushing on the C362 piston is redundant on a gun with as short a stroke as the 2100. It just needs a little attention to lubrication. The C362 needs the bushing because of the longer stroke and the progressive rate of the pump linkage. Regardless, the solid aluminum piston is more efficient than the wimpy plastic one that comes stock. I loaded mine up with some H&N Sniper Mediums (no longer available :() and killed a half dozen pinecones at thirty yards yesterday. ;D

Your experience is greater than mine. The Legacy is subject to galling too so the design isn't perfect. IMO the pump arm geometry is responsible for the galling. I had three Legacy's in a row before giving up on them. Only one suffered from galling. The other two I made sure to lubricate both ends of the piston and did not have galling problems with them. By all means get the 362 piston though since it is superior!

Earlier in the year I posted a number of questions on the Legacy1000 and the 2100B. I decided on the 2100B mainly because it has a metal receiver.
I think adding oil to the rear of the pump on the Legacy1000 will help prevent galling as the ND30 oil leaves a layer everywhere it has been. While I would absolutely order a couple C362 pistons at a later time, for now the 2100 making 8.5FPE w 9.0gr and 10 Pumps is good for small things to 30+yards.
If I wanted I could try using Plastic weld to fill in the slots of the rod of the 2100 plastic piston making it abit more rigid.. Or I can if I wanted to order a Legacy1000 And another 2100B and switch the receivers to have a Legacy 2100B , having the Aluminum piston and stronger Hammerspring and the 2100B receiver. That would leave a 21000L, plastic piston + plastic receiver. That seems fun, open sight porch gun capable of +700FPS w light pellets.
Today is abit rainy and yesterday was windy, not good shooting days, open sight Fantastic Plastic Models have no problems in rain. XD
